Brake pad's have nothing to do with ABS ! ABS light lit ,take it an have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Same with the other light's . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop .
check the angle of the drive way and the speed you approach it as the wheel may loose traction and stop spinning which immediately activates the ABS system to release the brake action on that wheel
The service engine light does not affect the abs.You most likely have a broken wire in your abs system which is affected by suspension movement.A code reader which does abs codes will tell you which wheel circuit is turning on the abs light. When there is no abs available the track will turn off.
My abs and track light are coming on too and i just got my car back from the dealership and they did a diagnostics check and found that the wheel speed sensor is bad and and the speed sensor wire harness was bad both are easy fix.
This soundslike a bad speed sensor, you will need to have the computer scanned for codes, the computer turns on the light and stores the code, the code will tell you what has gone wrong and with some testing you can find the problem, the most common problem could be a bad wheel speed sensor, both light are on due to the abs problem because the trac control uses the abs speed sensors to watch wheel speed so if the computer sees a problem with the abs it turns off the trac and turns on the light. after the abs is repaired the trac light will go out, start by having the codes read, a scan tool is needed to get the codes, there are many auto part stores that scan the computer for free but i dont know if they scan for abs codes, you will have to check that out. good day.
I had the same problem! It also affected the ABS system on my Rendezvous. The service tech finally determined it to me a wire attached to the ABS system that had pulled loose and when I turned corners it would short. They replaced the wireing harness and solved the problem! Good Luck!
MOST OF THE TIME WHEN TRAC LIGHT AND ABS BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON YOU A HAVE A PROBLEM IN THE ABS AND TRAC SYSTEM.THIS IS A DEALERSHIP FIX. YOU CAN CHECK ABS BRAKE FUSES MAKE SURE IT IS IN TIGHT.AND CHECK FOR FAULTY ABS RELAYS.TO CHECK RELAY LOOK AT RELAY TERMINALS YOU HAVE TERMINAL 86 AND TERMINAL 85.YOU CONNECT TERMINAL 85 TO GROUND AND TERMINAL 86 TO BATTERY POSITIVE TERMINAL.IF RELAY CLICKS WHEN BATTERY VOLTAGE IS APPLIED.RELAY IS WORKING IF YOU HEAR NO CLICK RELAY NO GOOD NEEDS REPLACING.
You can't dissable the abs. Most state inspections require the light to work, and function, as it's part of the process. You need to get a scanner hooked up to it to see what error the ABS computer has seen.
