Just bought immaculate 2000 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6 with 118,000 miles. Drives perfect. Been garaged the entire time, only one owner. It is unknown if the owner did a timing belt change at 60,000. Is there a way to tell the condition of the timing belt without removing too many parts? Thanks!
You would have to proceed like you were going to change the belt until you could see it to inspect it. Here is a link to instructions on inspecting and replacing it.

Testimonial: "great answer and very helpful."
If you can just remove the upper timing belt cover is about the only way, also timing belt replacement or 48 months which ever comes first, good luk and hope this was very helpful.
