I have this 92 ge 2.0 liter yeh I won't lie I make it work for the 500$ I spent on but now the trans has lost 4th and slips 2nd haven't had the car 12 months and serviced trans and put in new hoses in wen I bought it.. I changed the range sensor twice today with used ones from the wreckers no change at all also on hot days after a decent drive car will rev 5000 rpm in park / neutral 1200rpm in gear considering 2nd hand trans
It could either be the flex disc or drive shaft center bearing. I had the same problem on my 98 Z3 and I replaced both and it took care of the problem.
you check the ATF (trans oil) condition this good indiccator for your trans status . (burn mean clutch inside burn ) have small chips . change ATF and filter and make sure it;s in level.
When was last trans fluid & filter change? (I'm assuming it's an auto. trans.) Trans fluid & filter should be changed every 30k or 3 years. I'd start there and have system flushed when you do the filter change.
I would get a second look at it before replacing the computer, the computer may just need a flashing which is a programing to tell it to shift correctly . i would have the dealer check it and it may be a recall and not cost anything,
could have been trans fluid you saw on the floor years ago,,,if its manual trans there is no dipstick,,,maybe this one just is unlucky, not all cars even of the same modeland year perform the same,,everything is the same but diffrent,,,why dont you go get the trans fluid changed and see how much fluid comes out and if any metal comes ouot in the fluid,,,,then change it and see howit is,,other than that start pricing a new or used trans,,probably cheaper then tearing the old one down and fixing it
Y VERY HELPFUL AND I WILL CHECK THE FLUID AND NIOD
