I presume there is a slippage in the drive of the window winder. Open carefully the window flaps, first of all look carefully as you press for the motor to function. when the grinding noise come on, slowly life up the base of the glass support to see if it is holding. If this works open out the mechanism, check the cords/ reel/ gear for fault and replace. Hope you get this right. Try with patience / caution. Hope my advice works . Good day

I have a 2001 Ford focus Ghia 2L. While driving the offside rear window just dropped. Is it repairable or do I need a new unit?

Well if your glass didn't break you won't have to get one of those...But yes, you will have to get what is called a "window regulator". It's just a fancy term for all of the cables and tracks that hold and maneuver the window glass. If you have power windows you may or may not get a new motor w/ the new regulator, so be sure ask if it comes w/ one or not. You might not even need one as long as the motor still works.

Focus GRINDING NOISE during excellaration

I had the same exact problem with my 2003 Focus with 108,000 on it. Making right turns and accelerating was even worse. Had many ideas from differant mechanics saying it was wheel bearing, steering rack, loose heat shields, transmission...ect. Well after having wheel bearing replaced and steering rack replaced, the grinding was still there. It was finally discovered that the noise was coming from a bad motor mount on the right side. Had the dealer replace the motor motor mount and finally!!! the problem was solved. Thank God.

Rear brake

Sounds like you have a stuck caliper on the rear, and brake pads worn out. Replace caliper, pads and most likely rotors.

Driver Window

Sounds like a motor, or a s stuck mechanism. Either way the door panel must come off and this is no easy task.
