The pk3 system has a sensor ring around the lock cylinder these go bad a relearn will not fix this because no security code is being sent to the pass key module.
I lost my only key to my 2002 Chevy Venture Mini Van. I replaced the ignition switch. I followed the directions on how to program the new keys that came with the new switch and it didn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do. Cant afford to take it to a dealership.
Code U1000 is saying the ECM lost communication with the BCM which can happen when the key switch is turned far enough to stop the engine but not enough to turn the accessories off. Code 463 is for fuel level sensor circuit high which is a problem with the fuel gauge or the sending unit in the tank. Code 1626 involves the theft deterrent system. The code 1626 could be the issue - the passkey system may not be reading the chip in your key.
Well, if you still have another working key, you can go to most any key shop or hardware store, they can make a copy for less, perhaps $50 or so. You must have one working key to "train" the computer to recognize a new key. If you lost your last working key, you may be out of luck. Usually you have to replace the computer module, which can cost $1000 or more. If that's the case, see if you can get one from a auto recycler (junkyard) for a more reasonable amount. Then immediately have a duplicate key made and keep it in a safe place. In any case, replacing a key with a chip in it is more expensive than the old-fashioned mechanical keys.
I'm not sure about the chip, but if you bought the vehicle new from the dealer or have all the original paperwork there should be a key code in it.If not(you'll want to call a locksmith and verify this)most manufacturers put the code on the passenger door lock cylinder, once you have the code its just a matter of calling a Chevy dealer or locksmith.
leave key in ignition on on dash lights should light up do not start leave on 1 hour after 1 hour enter 00000 after radio starts working enter the security code00000 then enter any code you like write new code down and keep in good spot
You must get a new key from the dealer. Bring in the registration, and photo I.D. Then they will cut you a key. After that, try this procedure....
With a master passkey III key (Black), turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Observe the Security telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn off.
Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
Repeat steps 1-3 two more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes.
With a master passkey III key, start the vehicle. The vehicle has now learned the key transponder information and the PCM has now learned the fuel continue password.
If it does not work, you will need to get it to the dealer.
