I have a 1995 chevy astro van and the breaks and steering have lost power. The fluid's are full, and I can not detect any broken lines. What could it be?

Your van sounds like it has hydro-boost.It uses the power steering for brake boost instead of engine vacumme.More than likely you have had a power steering pump failure.

You should have a 4l60E in your astro van. Which is electrically controlled, so no vacuum modulator. However, to address the ventilation selector not working... look for a vacuum line exiting the firewall and going to the passenger rear of the intake manifold. You will likely find it broken or disconnected there.

Sounds to me like the hydroboost system has a stuck biass valve in the hydrobooster. The sytem works both the brakes and the steering.

aslong as your tranny is still shifting properly then it should be fine, try getting a fluid flush and a new filter and new fluid and that should fix it up, thats what i did with my 96 astros and that cured them both

My 2001 astro lost it's brakes and power steering at the same time. any ideas?

check the power steering pump to see if the shaft broke. remove the belt and pull the pulley on the pump, it should not pull out of the pump. If it does you need a new pump

1995 chevy astro van

Mine just did same (2001). Have them check the power steering pump--shaft broke in mine. This affects the brakes as well since both power brakes and power steering run off same system in Astros. Broken shaft messed up the booster system.

Your van don't have the regular air (vacum) power brake booster, your has a hydraboost brake booster, which is power by your power steering pump, if power steering pump goes bad you will not have power steering or brakes, brake peddle will feel very hard and will take alot of pressure on the brake peddle to stop your van, more the likely your power steering pump is bad.
