When I got the car, Starting it, I have to hold the gas down or it won't start. WHen I drive more than 15 miles at a time, the oil light flashes and beeps for days. (it's very annoying) Almost annoying enough to drive the car off of the road into a brick wall. (if I could even drive it right now) The headlights have never been very bright, i've had it for about three or four months. I was driving it home from work one day, when I noticed a power shortage, the radio keep going on and off as I was turning.. And everything got dim. So I turned the car off at a red light, thinking if I turned it back on, it would be ok. The car was dead. I had it jumped the next day by AAA, but the guy that was doing it, seemed as clueless about cars as I am. Jumped the battery, and the car would stay on and work normally for about 3 min. then It would die. Went down the street in the car and it would die after going 20 feet. I had to have it towed back to my house. What is wrong with my car? (ohh and side note the thing that is to be clamped onto the battery, was very lose. and AAA guy tightened it.)

Sounds like your cars alternator is bad. The injectors in the motor along with everything else (including the cars computer) needs a steady stream of power in order to function. The injectors work through magnets that open and close ports thus use electricity. the car could not run without power (alternator not charging the battery anymore). The oil light comes from the computer not receiving the correct power input so may start to glitch and alert you of things that are not happening. Usually when the battery dies all of the gauges will die and the radio will shut off. most power accessories will not be available. However, better safe then sorry. You should check your oil ;) Be safe! Thanks for asking! Glad I could help.

Almost forgot. The headlight are not bright due to the fact that the battery runs at 12v but with the alternator backing up the batter it should be running at 13v or higher. Thus the headlights will dim.

Car shuts of suddenly while driving. Starts back up after 20 minutes.

When the gas-cap is plugged, you build up vacuum in the gas- tank and cause the gas flow to stop.
Use premium gas only, ETHANOL in the mix is attracting moisture/water which is part of the problems.

Oil light goes on...had a dry stick 4 1/2 qts put in. no oil on ground. after oil change light went on at 70 miles.. on 15 secs then off for 5 miles then on again 15 secs--- off 4 miles--off 3 miles- off 2...

if it's not going onto the ground, and it's not being burned, check the positive crankcase ventilation and the exhaust gas recirculation valves for oil seepage...also check your air filter, if its got oil on it replace the pcv valve.

Maintenance light flashing

h) Engine Oil Replacement Reminder
Light (for vehicles sold in U.S.A.)
This light reminds you when to replace
the engine oil.
This light will come on when the ignition
key is turned to “ON” and will go off after
about a few seconds.
When you drive for about 8000 km (5000
miles) after the engine oil replacement,
this light illuminates for about 3 seconds
and then flashes for about 12 seconds
with the ignition key turned to “ON” position.
If you continue driving without the
engine oil replacement, and if the driving
range exceeds 12000 km (7500 miles), the
light will come on after the ignition key is
turned to “ON” position. The light will remain
on thereafter.
If the light is flashing, we recommend that
you replace the engine oil at an early
opportunity depending on the driving and
road condition. If the light comes on, replace
it as soon as possible.
You need to reset the light after the engine
oil replacement. Reset the light by
following the procedure below:
1. Turn the ignition key to the “OFF” position
with the odometer reading shown.
(For details, see “Odometer and two
trip meters” on page 136 in this Section.)
2. Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position
while holding down the trip meter
reset button.
Hold down the button until the light goes
off. Before the light goes off, it illuminates
for 3 seconds, flashes for 2 seconds and
illuminates for 1 second.
If the system fails to reset, the light will
remain flashing.
