Replace remote battery to make sure, but if alarm is activated it continous to chirp the alarm or if your alarm system is set by the manufacturer try to relearn the program, if all fuse are ok, and your remote lock/unlock is work, check for lose ground connection, if remote is not working, replace the battery then try to do this. swtch ignition in 10 seconds to on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off-on wait 30 seconds, press any button of the remote once, turn igniton off, after 30 seconds start the car, if not go to the nearest service center to check the troublecodes

Volvo v50 wont start no power

Battery status, battery terminals and connectors clean and bright? Does starter solenoid click, or nothing. If clicks bad battery, or connectors above. If nothing, battery or starting switch are bad, or starting solenoid is bad. If high mileage it's possible starter brushes are bad. New Starters maybe around $150. if you can change yourself. Starting switch can be jumpered to verify if battery and connections are good, and starting switch or connections are bad.

2000 Volvo s80 clicks but won't start

This procedure usually works:
·Check the battery cable connections:
Make sure the negative cable makes a good ground connection at the battery and (preferably) at the engine. Make sure the positive cable, makes a good connection at the battery and at the starter.

·Check the battery the simple way, like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.

·Check the starter and solenoid:
If the wiring looks ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter(10 volts minimum while cranking).
If the starter spins and no crank, the problem is most likely the Solenoid's pinion gear is stuck.
Have someone hit (not too hard) the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging a stuck pinion gear.
·Make a simple test of the alternator:
If you can, somehow get the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 13.6 volts to properly charge the battery.

1995 volvo 850 turbo wagon will not start all of a

You can check 2 things. 1., have someone in the car to turn the key to the start position. Tap the starter with a small hammer and see if it cranks. If it does, replace the starter. 2., have the battery tested as well as the connections to the battery. Corrosion builds and can cause heavy resistance to heavy loads(like starting). These are the 2 most likely causes. Let me know if you need further assistance.

1999 Volvo V70 wont start

I had the same problem with the 2000 v70 XC I bought in Dec. 08. I replaced the battery, then the antenna ring (around ignition; part of the immobilizer system), and bought new keys as sometimes the chips in them do go bad. Also, if you have a key for another car with an immobilizer system on the same keyring, take it off. The multiple signals can confuse the immobilizer system. I think the antenna ring may have been one issue as, consistent with what repairpal stated, I got a crank and the engined turned over for about a second or 2 one time and then it died. The antenna ring (and the new keys) were relatively inexpensive. That worked for about a month and then I got no crank at all.  I had the starter replaced, but in hindsight I think that may have not been the problem.  I think the problem was the starter not getting juice. The starter was a very expensive solution. About 2 weeks after having the starter replaced, it wouldn't crank again.  I took it to a Volvo dealership and gave them the history. They found a corroded wire near the starter and, at least until now, that seems to have done the trick. Labor on the wire was about $100 at the dealer. Searching Volvo forums for those who have had a similar problem, I have found that others have had the "bad wire" problem.  If you are told to replace the starter by your mechanic, my advice to anyone having this problem is to have check to make sure the starter is getting juice before replacing the starter as replacing the starter (parts and labor) cost me about $650-$700.  If they find that the starter is not getting juice, they can check for wire corrision starting at the starter and working their way back.

YESTERDAY I WAS DRIVING MY 1988 VOLVO 244DL DOWN A DIRT ROAD. I WAS GOING SLOW AND DOWN SHIFTED TO FIRST (IT'S AN AUTOMATIC). THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS. TODAY, I TRY TO START IT AND THERE WAS NOTHING. BATTERY...

My boss has a 85 244 DL. Hers had the same problem. We placed a momentary button on the dash for the starter motor. That fixed the problem she had with it not turning over with the key.
