Removal & Installation
To install:
CAUTION
After disconnecting the negative battery cable, wait 2 minutes for
the driver-s/passenger-s air bag system capacitor to discharge before
attempting to do any work around the steering column or instrument.
Instrument panel wiring harness connector from the 100-way wiring
harness connector at the left side of the inner panel.
Side window demister hose at the heater/air conditioning housing
demister/defroster duct on the driver-s side.
Two halves of the heater/air conditioning system vacuum harness
connector.
Instrument panel wiring harness connector from the heater/air
conditioning system wiring harness connector.
Instrument panel wiring harness connector from the passenger-s
side air bag module wiring harness connector.
Side window demister hose at the heater/air conditioning housing
demister/defroster duct (passenger-s side).
Two halves of the radio antenna coaxial cable connector.
Two instrument panel wiring harness connectors from the passenger
air bag ON/OFF switch wiring harness connector.
Passenger-s side air bag ON/OFF switch wiring harness from the
retainer clip on the plenum bracket that supports the heater/air
conditioning housing just inboard of the fuse block module.
Two lower passenger-s side air bag module bracket-to-dash panel
nuts.
Two lower passenger-s side air bag module bracket-to-dash panel
nuts.
Passenger-s side air bag ON/OFF switch wiring harness to the
retainer clip on the plenum bracket that supports the heater/air
conditioning housing just inboard of the fuse block module.
Two instrument panel wiring harness connectors to the passenger
air bag ON/OFF switch wiring harness connector.
Two halves of the radio antenna coaxial cable connector.
Side window demister hose at the heater/air conditioning housing
demister/defroster duct (passenger-s side).
Instrument panel wiring harness connector to the passenger-s side
air bag module wiring harness connector.
Instrument panel wiring harness connector to the heater/air
conditioning system wiring harness connector.
Two halves of the heater/air conditioning system vacuum harness
connector.

if you dont have full book, or above all this cross links in the book will be missed, yes, it does that, it will say , read this section first, (like defeating dangerous air bags)
so for 15 bucks you get all photos too.... which really help.

Replace the evaporator coil at the same time. I talked to a friend that had an auto repair shop after I had replace my heater core and he said I should have replace the evaporator coil at the same time. He was right. A year later I was pulling the dash out and replace the evaporator coil. I will only cost you about $100.00 for the part but it will save ten hours of frustation.
Big job, Need to discharge ac system, and remove lines. remove heater hoses at firewall. remove attaching hardware at firewall. You also have to swing the complete dsahboard out of the way. Removing upper dash bezel and bolts. A-pillar trim Bolts on both sides of dash at door. lower steering column, Hidden bolt near firewall at this point. Bolts through dash into heater box. etc etc......

you will have to remove dash and pull the heater/a/c box out to replace.it is a pretty in depth job

try autozone.com to see if they have your car listed for diagrams pictures and step by step instructions if your car is not listed then try your local library they have all the car manuals and even copy them for you and here is a place that sells only GM parts Schram auto and truck parts 1-800-292-1032 if you need it

get on youtube, and you will find the info that you need most of the time. you may need to remove the entire dash, to access this unit. so, be very sure what you are doing, before you tackle this job.
