the pumps on all cars/trucks only RUN WHEN:
1: KEYON FOR 1 TO 2 SECONDS AND ENDS.the prime act.
2: full time on cranked so #1 and #2 is 2 man job lacking super long tests leads.
3: full time running engine,the pump has 12vdc on some if spark fails pump is shut off instantly.(all fuel is cut if spark is lost)
this fails the pump ground is bad
or the fuel pump relay bad or not even energizing.
fuses blown tops the lest
make sure engine has spark. and will run on test fuel (spray)

If all the lights are working and you don't think it is the battery or electrical, then it would be with fuel. The fuel pump could be going out but first check the spark plugs and wires.

You don't say how old the truck is - or how old the pump is - most likely it is the pump 'dying' as you try it -
I would look near the tank and find the ground wire -[ it may be on top of the tank] - the most common fix is the fuel pump and sadly it sounds like this is it --
Also - Take down the Vin # and call the local dealer - - ask about recalls and Service bulletins.
Chevy Trucks, Blazers, S10 pickup and the like will vapor lock ecspecially the 2000 models. Do not tighten the gas cap past 1 click. There is a tube that runs from the top of the tank down and this gets hot and collapses or burns in half. We just bought a reinforced rubber tube cut it to lengh and use it instead of part and it's worked grat for 2 years so far.
