2005 Chrysler Town & Country. Passenger side window problem.

2005 Chrysler Town & Country. Passenger side power window will not work. Driver side and passenger side window control buttons are both hot. Is it a switch?...or the window motor?

HAVEK 1005 sounds right on track.... but also try this, usually works well for non functional power windows, specially Caravans.

NO COST PROCEDURE TO FIX IT:

1. Sit in vehicle, on seat next to problematic window
2. Ignition key is on
3. Door in question is opened (in case you closed it)
4. While door is open, press and hold power window button in desired window travel, keep button pressed !!
5. SLAM hard the door closed with one hand while other hand holds button as per #4.
6. Watch window operate as it should.
7. Repeat 3-6 if necessary, but usually the first try works!

NOW, for the naysayers that says you must replace power window motors etc, at $$$ cost because the above fix does not work, or is not long lasting fix, or less than a "professional fix".... Well then, when the window fails to operate again, apply same fix again at that time.

I have fixed my van this way numerous times (usually once a year), and to all local friends I recommend this fix too, likewise do the same and are happy with the solution.

Absolutely worked after holding the window switch instead of the door lock! Thanks so much.

WOW!...how did you figure this out?? it worked, as you said it probably would, the first time i tried it...his has been such an annoying problem for me for the last year...it worked intermittently...then stopped...tried slamming it, cleaning it, talked to service centers...nothing worked except when it seemed my termpermental van decided it would work for a while...can't thank you enough for saving me $$$ and such inconvenience when getting mail, toll booths, etc. ...thanks for sharing...hope more owners of this van find you...jille

Worked perfectly. Thanks for the post!

Wow !!! It worked the first time. I wonder if I brought it in to a dealer (or other repair shop) that they would have done the same thing and then charged as though they had to replace something. With car sight unseen in a repair shop how would a customer know.....Probably saved me a couple hundred bucks....Thanks !!!!!!!!

This worked on our 2005 Chrysler Town & Country! I found this post after watching dozens of youtube videos, reading posts, and trying to find an elusive fuse under the dash. I also went to Pick and Pull (junkyard) and practiced removing a motor assembly. Thanks! It has been 90 to 100 the pass several days and I've been getting strange looks at the drive thru windows of fast food places and the credit union.

Beautiful, that worked perfectly. Thanks for the post...

Hmm! Worked like a charm! Did I say it worked like a charm? yes! and it took less that a minute.

  • DrOldies Oct 18, 2012

Tried the door slamming - it works! Other posts I found suggest the cable between the window and the motor gets out of position and jams. The door slam may nock it free.

Sounds like motor shorted out and caused a load feedback to the switch. May need to replace both.

This actually worked for me too in 2023, sort of. Only works about once per slam. Anybody figured out a low cost more permanent solution? What is actually happening?

2005 Chrysler T&C passenger side window went down and won't come up. All other automatic windows and door locks work fine - don't hear any motor sound / buzz / etc. when either driver side or passenger...

If the window had not been slow in it's action before it stopped working I'm guessing you only have a connection problem. I would remove the door panel and using a multimeter check the hot wire to see if power is reaching the switch. If it is check the connection on the motor. If power is reaching the motor through the switch you have a faulty motor. If at any point of testing there is no power backtrack the power wire to find where the break is. (it's usually in the door jam)

Passenger power window will not open.

We have had this happen in every town and country and caravan that we have owned. They will tell you that the window motor needs replaced. It will work for a while and then break again. Did I mention that the price tag to fix it is pretty hefty? A friend of mine told me that he fixed his with a salvaged window motor for a fraction of the price. The motor is obviously defective though if it breaks so easily.

Security alarm on so car won't start

24,
Try locking/unlocking the passenger door with the key into the door lock to reset the alarm system. If the passenger side doesn't work, then try the driver side. Good luck.
