Neither remotes work and airbag light nis on - 2004 Volkswagen Beetle

He is slightly wrong. There is a fuse that powers the airbag control module. But that is it, there would be a different code if the junction fuse box was the problem to that airbag light.

B1382 Side Airbag Front-Passenger Resistance too High

Possible causes:

• Side airbag disconnected.
• Damaged wiring to airbag.
• Faulty airbag.
• Faulty airbag control module.

You have a defective part called a clock spring contact under the steering wheel, this contact is a coiled up simi rigid plastic ribbon with circuits embedded in it, after many years they l break and you loose the connection from the steering wheel controls (radio) and the Airbag. You must disarm the airbag on the steering wheel and remove it and replace the clock spring contact drum under the wheel, the cost is about $300.00

This is task for an auto electrician but you could check the wiring connection on the column possible only earth wire is disconnected. Especially if the horn doesn't operate as well. Allan Caution!!!!!!! Do not attempt to remove or test any yellow coated wiring or airbag assembly danger will trigger airbag deployment.

Try having your battery tested and your alternator it sounds like you have a low battery condition or a bad battery connection or a cable that has corroded and not allowing power to come threw the cable. This also could be caused by a diode Trio In the alternator allowing it to short to ground. So if you have it tested at auto zone or sears, auto zone does it for free then you can go on from there. Even a ground cable being loose could cause this problem. But you must make Sure you have The right battery voltage to even start a repair or diagnosis on this problem. let me know if you need more help.

Are you still driving this with the deflated airbag in it? If so the clockspring behind the steering wheel needs to be replaced as it is part of the wiring circut for the airbag and cruise and radio remote.

check the wiring at the column make sure nothing is dis connected you might have hooked up a wire in wrong place voltage change will cause light to come on

If your airbag light comes on it means its not working. Some of the newer airbag systems have weight sensors under the seats and anything lodged under them can disable the passenger airbag and possibly cause the light to go on. If there are no other symptoms, and nothing impeding the airbags then the car thinks the airbag wont work. If you are concerned for your son's safety, take it to a qualified mechanic and have them check/replace your airbag. Good Luck!

Thanks for the help but, I just have to wait till monday now because all the shops are closed. I have to find out why my check engine light is on first.
