Saturn vue 2006 4cyl. when acelerating alternator light comes on and looses power steering assist for ashort period of time.

it could be a loose wire or it could be the alternator is going bad.

You may have a problem with your alternator or the wiring may be loose or broken. check your battery for bad cells and not holding it's charge.

check for a broken drive belt that controls the power steering pump and alternator.;

i am a saturn tech and ive never heard of this concern,the columns do go bad but they just set a ses light and cut out power,the column could be bad,it could also be the intermediate shaft u joint binding,,,i rec take to dealer, could be serious

Needs new electric collumn.

Check the big EPS Fuse under the hood,power supplied from underhood fuse panel.

you can try changing the drivebelt to make sure the alternator is getting fully charged and make sure the battery terminals are clean

I had the same problem some time ago, lights would go on and off, odometer appeared to stop counting at times rpm gauge would work and then not... power steering would off and on work and head lights would blink on and off when in driving light mode (off position).. The fix for me was I had to have the dash computer replaced (about $500). After doing this around 50k miles ago all the gremlins seem to have remained gone.. Hope this helps

Initially, would suspect that the vehicle has a loose belt that is common to the power steering pump and the alternator.

The 2002 thru 2007 do not have the traditional hydraulic power stering unit that requires fluid. In these models, power assist is provided by an electrical power steering unit. Nothing to check there but the battery.
