See if noise is in what used to be your distributor location. It is called a camshaft synchronizer. The camshaft sensor spins around in this assembly. If it has play in it the sensor will rub on the assembly & cause a squealing noise. It will generaly set check engine light for bad camshaft position sensor. If you buy the synchronizer new it will come with the tool needed to properly install the sensor at its correct position.

Hi sir madam I got a getz and theirs a sound coming from the front not sure is it the tensioner or the tappets how can i digonoise

Tappets usually make a 'clicking/ticking' noise which comes from the top of the engine.

A tensioner or pulley/belt tends to make a constant whirring/squealing noise.

Squeaky noise coming from power steering

Look at power steering fluid if it's not a nice pink color replace after draining system. Auto transmission fluid can be used. Most reservoirs in the engine bay have nnice pictures on the top to help identify which system they are for

I have a squealing noise coming from the top of the engine. Constantly. 2000 Chet impaled LS. Just started. Whsy could it be?

Most squeeling noises coming from an engine are belt related. Check for proper belt tension and condition of belt. Without actually hearing the noise, it could also be a bad bearing in one of the drive pulleys.

2000 montero sport: There's a loud squealing noise coming from the engine. What could be wrong?

Squealing is most common with loose or worn belts, I would start by replacing the drive belt on the front of the motor and go from there, Its easier to troubleshoot a squealing motor if you know that the belt or belts are good.

My 1997 subaru impreza squeals badly and then engine smokes

Hi this sounds weird does the smoke come out from the front engine covers? the squealing could be the cambelt trying to turn a semi or completly ceased waterpump which would cause the smoke after a while, also without the waterpump working properly the engine will leak water and anti freeze out the overflow and overheat really quickly

Engine races ten resumes normal idle, also

you may have a worn or loose belt....if not it may be your waterpump squealing...your belts turn the pump...check and see if you have coolant dripping from under the front of the engine..thanks
