After backing out of drive, gear shift stuck in neutral. Unable to release shift to drive or park.

After I asked shop to check my 2002 LEXUS ES300, trunk release switch is not working. The shop owner said, he did not touch there, only check passenger side air bag. I checked in glove box, but switch is push in (turn on). Now, it only works with the key and remote. How can I fix this?

Hi,i can't open the trunk of my lexus es300,it doesn't have a remote key when i bought it and the trunk button doesn't ,the over-ride switch in the glove box doesn't work as well, what should i do?thanks

Hi, W/D here.
I'm not really familiar with your car, but I thought that I should offer this up as a Good Samaritan....
If your rear seat(s) will flip down, do so and open the trunk from the inside. Then determine why the over ride switch isn't working. The trunk button should be worked manually when you get the trunk open. Lubricate the lock and locking mechanisms with graphite, and not oil. You can get graphite at Lowe's, H/Depot or similar, in the lock dept. You can also get it at craft supply stores (Hobby Lobby). They sell it there for the Cub Scouts "Pinewood Derby" race cars.
Hope that this helped a little, --W/D--

More often than not, the long "beeeeeeeeeep" can be traced to a door that is not closed properly, or a dome light switch for a door that is not working properly.
