No 3th or 4th gear , auto trans - 1993 Honda Accord

double posted same car same problem but this time a new Key clue.
what do you mean out of 4th gear.
learn the tell a drivers evidence hear,
PRNDL123,can';t move the LEVER here
or the auto trans (none told or engine or country told)
the A/t fails to up shift 3 to 4, in Drive,?
or trans is stuck in 4th drive. no matter what I do, even in Reverse I get 4th gear forward?

what does that mean, I am clueless. 4>3 down shifts fail?

Im assuming it is a 4 speed transmission and if you are using the "tap shift" which is for performance situations and you wouldnt typically need 4th gear. What speeds are you trying to go into 4th? If you are going too slow it wont upshot because you rpms might drop too low. Will it not go into 4th at highway speeds?

You need to have it diagnosed at a dealer or trans shop

have the fault codes read
have a proper diagnosis done by an accredited auto transmission professional shop

there is a simple button beside your transmission handdy.. just press it, you will see on your screen "OD off", which it means your gearbox will not go to overdrive gear(usually 4th gear called overdrive) and it will not go more than 3th gear.

Check your transmission fluid. If it is bright almost pinkish-red then it is not the transmission. If it is dark red or brown then you need to either get a flush done or replace your transmission depending on the severity.

Okay, I baught an 01' tiburon last march. When I first had trouble with the tranny it wouldnt shift into fourth and no it wasnt the overdrive button. Then it started downshiftling like what your experiencing then I lost reverse. Ammco rebuilt the tranny. I would take it to them, they will inspect it for free. You may just need a tran fluid flush. You should know that in the automatics the tranny is the weakest part of the car. The engines are great, just everything around them seems to fall apart after 120,000 miles.
Ammco offers a free inspection service. However Just from experience - if you need a new auto tranny it is cheaper to buy one already rebuilt (with warrantee) and pay to have it installed than to rebuild the one you have.

I know you don't want to hear this but theis transmission has failed, the clutch pack for gears 3&4 has failed, the trans will need an opverhaul.
