Have bmw 535i hit pot hole in road just wounder if there is fuel cut of switch as car will not start

If you hear the fuel pump whine there is no fuel cut off switch .Your best bet , have a qualified repair shop check it out . You have no clue how to diagnose . Looking at wiring diagrams to see what all is involved in the fuel , ignition systems , checking to see if there is spark at the spark plug's , checking fuel pressure . So do yourself a favor . Takes special tools an service repair information to diagnose newer electronicaly controlled automobiles .

Try spraying a shot of wd40 into a couple of the spark plug holes, reinstall plugs and wires and try again. The wd40 will allow the vehicle to start if there is spark. Check your coil pack connections.
Was anything torn off when you hit the pot hole?

Can you check if there is spark since you verified fuel ? please let me know. A car needs fuel (wd40) and spark to run.

You should probably look for damage under the car - probably hit someething underneath like - pinching a fuel line - or denting the fuel tank - a good jarr/bump can knock things loose - look closely at the fuel lines

Hello, There is a part on the passengers side kick panel which cuts out the fuel pump in an accident. It is called an Inertia switch. You should have a button to press to reset it. It may be close to the heater at the low point or just above the plastic side panel of the lower dash.

If you hit the pothole hard enough, your fuel cut-off may have actuated. Locate the cut off, (some of them are around the steering post towards the firewall) and push to reset.

The next thing i would check is the ignition switch itself. Turn the key to the on position, If the red warning lights on your dash don't light up (and your battery connections are clean), the ignition switch is bad. If they do light up, turn the key to the start position. The dash warning lights should turn off at this key position (most cars). If you're not sure, turn on the headlights. When you try to start the car, the lights should either dim (a lot) or turn off completely. If they do, your ignition switch should be ok. If not, the switch will need replacement.

this car has a fule cut off switch look in the boot for a push type button switch the crash has just triped this fule cut off switch its nothing more than that,,,push the botten back in and the car should start up and run just fine,,,rember were it is,,as if you hit a pot hole or big bump it will trip it again,,,there fitted to help stop a fire in a crash,,,,but it would help if the car makers told you were to look for it to turn it back on,,, huh?

have you hit a big bump lately and the car motor just cut out on you???
if so, its the auto cut off switch,,,it shuts off the fule pump if you have a crash??? like hitting the curb,,big pot hole??? or an old lady in the road! all could switch it off

hi its probably the fuel cut off switch. in an impact an enerchia switch will cut off the fuel pump. your local dealer will tell you where its fitted and its just a push of the switch and away it will go.

The fuel cut-off switch was activated by the impact. Had the same situation. I can provide you with mazda service manual in pdf if you wish.
