1994 Buick Le Sabre starts first time, runs great. Won't restart until something has cooled off.

do you mean it will not turn over or it turns over but will not start..?? If it turns over it is possibly the IGN module ... expensive part.. could be the ign switch.. inside the steering column.
Have you checked to see if spark or fuel is missing? one of these has to be missing for the engine not to start if it turns over.. If it does not turn over check the starter for "heat Soak" an old GM problem.

Buick Le Sabre No Start?

I have recently worked on a 1995 Buick Le Sabre that wouldn't start. First checked the fuel pump fuse and relay, they were both good. Then proceeded to change the faulty fuel pump. Proceeded to crank the car up and NO START....
Ended up finding that these buicks have problems with there wiring. So i found the power and ground wire to the fuel pump. Grounded it to the frame, and ran a hot wire up to the dash to a on/off switch that i then ran through the firewall and into a 20 amp fuse link. From there to a power source. Now to start the car, you have to turn the fuel pump on and off when you shut the car off.
But that beats chasing the entire wiring harness down to find a mysterious short.

How do you turn off the "CHANGE OIL SOON" light

For Buick Le Sabre, 1995-99, when "CHANGE OIL SOON" light is on:
  • Access the reset button in the glove box (refer to car manual if required).
  • With the engine off, set the ignition switch to the RUN position
  • Press and hold the reset button in the glove box for at least 5 seconds
  • The light should blink a few times (4) then go out!
Hope it helps: let me know how you go.

Installing ignition module

Unscrew the ignition coil(s) from on top of the module...(leave plug wires attached)....and set aside noting coil position on module....unplug module and replace with a known working module. If there is grease under old module...transfer it to new module.Replace coil(s) and start her up.
TIP. While you are there, why not also change the crank sensor (if it not new).....it is THE trouble maker on these engines.

My 93 Buick Le Sabre wont start consistently.

sometime the ignition switch will cause this problem, a condinuity test is recomended to ensure the contacts are not engaged when key position is off.

1997 Buick Le Sabre will not start somtimes

My wife has a 96 we had a similar problem. I believe that the connectors on the chip that is in the ignition key are worn out. The manual said that it is a safety feature on the car if someone tries to use a different key in the ignition or tries to punch it, it disables the car for like 3 minutes. We had a spare ignition key and switched to that and haven't had the problem since. Hope that solves your problem.
