Mcdevito75 here, It could be the fast idle sensor, this acts like the old chokes that enrich the fuel mixture to keep a cold engine running a bit faster at a cold start. Have your local shop check it out.

Check that you are getting fuel. It sounds like the fuel pump is bad.

Have a fuel pressure leak down test run on the fuel pump. This is a symptom of the electric pump pressure check valve being defective, the valve is part of the fuel pump and it is mounted in the fuel tank. Also make sure you are using 87 Octane gasoline, higher octanes can cause stall issues on cold starts.

2001 chevy suburban At normal running temp,

HI,When electrical components such as a stater motor get hot they draw more amperage thus making it harder to turn over the motor. There are 3 possible things going bad (1) Battery (2) Battery Cables (corrosion) (3) Starter. I hope this helps lead you to the proper diagnoses.

Chevy suburban from 1996, just replaced fuel pump and now problem when starting cold engine. after car as run a few miles no more problems for the rest of the day. only cold car in the morning

Does it crank normally, just wont start? Not sure if we have a draw on the battery over night or if one or more injectors is bleeding down in to the combustion chamber of the cylinder causing a lack of fuel pressure and has washed out the cylinder. Pull the dipstick, see if it smells of gasoline. Need more info to assist.

I have a 1996 Plym. Grand Voyager, hesitation & stalling.

If it works well at speed and acts up when slowing or stopped it doesn't sound like fuel filter or pump. You can try running injector cleaner through the engine to clean the carborator injectors or fuel injectors if you have those. Look at replacing the plugs and wires on the motor.

check for loose or cracked vacuum lines, and/or the rotor. It may not be making consistant contact.
