Either you have a fuel pump that went out, or your fuel pump relay went. These fuel pumps last around 100,000 miles, so if you're way under that, it's more than likely the relay, if you're close to that, it could be either.

I would check to be on the safe side the fuel filter is going in the right direction. The arrow is pointing towards the engine away from the fuel tank, Then you need to make sure the fuel pump wiring connections are good contact and did not come loose when driving.

2004 chevy trailblazer LS EXT. My gas gauge is not reading the gas amount and it keeps moving. Gas level can be at half and as I drive it drops but when I stop it moves back to half. Fill it up to where it...

This sounds like the fuel level sensor in the gas tank is going bad, or there is a bad ground at the tank. A technician using a scan tool can monitor the actual fuel level data to verify.
Another possibility is a bad stepper motor in the instrument panel, each gauge had a stepper motor to drive the needle.

NEED DRIVE CYCLE FOR 2004 CRV TO RESET CAT AND O2 MONOTOR

Here is the info

NOTE: The ignition key must not be on prior to the cold start otherwise the heated oxygen sensor diagnostic may not run.

1. As soon as the engine starts, idle the engine in drive for two and a half minutes with the A/C and rear defrost on. OBDII checks oxygen sensor heater circuits, air pump and EVAP purge.

2. Turn the A/C and rear defrost off, and accelerate to 55 mph at half throttle. OBDII checks for ignition misfire, fuel trim and canister purge.

3. Hold at a steady state speed of 55 mph for three minutes.

OBDII monitors EGR, air pump, O2 sensors and canister purge.

4. Decelerate (coast down) to 20 mph without braking or depressing the clutch. OBDII checks EGR and purge functions.

5. Accelerate back to 55 to 60 mph at half throttle. OBDII checks misfire, fuel trim and purge again.

6. Hold at a steady speed of 55 to 60 mph for five minutes.

OBDII monitors catalytic converter efficiency, misfire, EGR, fuel trim, oxygen sensors and purge functions.

7. Decelerate (coast down) to a stop without braking. OBDII makes a final check of EGR and canister purge.

Where is the fuel pump located on a chevy malibu

It's located in the gas tank and to replace it, your going to have to drop the gas tank.
Thank you for using fixya and if you are going to replace the fuel pump your self. Make sure you also replace the wire harness from the frame to the fuel pump.

it may very well be that it is the fuel filter that is dirty, if the car bogs down when giveing it gas then it is usually the fuel filter.that needs replced or dirt could have got into injectors, put some fuel injector cleaner in tank. and change fuel filter.

While driving at 60 mph the car will lose power to 5 mph and stepping on the gas doesn't help. The car doesn't turn off it just won't go over about 10 mph then after about 30 minutes it just turns back on

I would replace the fuel filter if it has not been replaced in the last 30000 miles. Thats all they seem to last, lots of dirt from the gas station tanks. The other thing is the catalitic converter could be plugged. Check the flow at the tail pipe, feeling the exhaust flow while someone pushes the gas petal down repeatedly a few times. The flow should be stonger when pressing the gas petal down.If thats the trouble I think the Chevy dealer is suppost to cover the cost. Call them and ask. They had to pay for my Monte Carlo one.
I hope this info helps you.

My car hesitates and slowsdown while driving

The fuel filter is in the gas tank with the fuel pump - it's actually a 'SOCK' that filters fuel before it enters the pump. Odds are it's not the filter. Odds are you have a Throttle Position Sensor which is going bad (bad spots in the potentiometer). Erratic resistance changes sending BAD signals to the Engine Control Module and Transmission Control Module ECU & TCM. A good technician knows how to check it with an analog ohm meter.

Gas gauge malfunction and engine light stays on

This is a common problem with Malibu's. It is due to cheap metal in the fuel gage that corrodes. Chevrolet knows about this but they refuse to issue a fix. The check engine light staying on and the faulty fuel gage are related. This is a defect and they need to recall this part! Raise hell with the dealership!

2004 chevy malibu won't start up

I have an 04 Malibu and when I get hard starts when I'm in the car I just press the accelerator down about half way and it always starts right up, some times I have to hold the accelerator down a little after starting to stop it from stalling but it is rare.
