Did you disconnect/reconnect battery? Do you have power? Are all the drive belts properly routed and tightened? Is coolant/water levels full? How bad did the truck overheat before you changed the water pump? If the truck was running fine before you changed the water pump, then double check that you properly reinstalled and reconnected all components you removed to gain access to the pump. Make sure your battery connections are secure and properly charged. If you didn't disconnect the battery when replacing pump, it's a possibility at some point you could have shorted the battery to ground and blew a fuse. Check all of your main fuses, then check all other fuses.

Otherwise, even if you installed a bad water pump, it has nothing to do with truck turning over. The only possibilities are that engine froze before changing pump, drive belts not properly reinstalled/secured, components not properly reinstalled or connected, or battery shorted and blew a fuse, or fuses. Let me know how it goes.

Could a heater core make my truck over heat

Heater core will not do that, ever. it's just a water bypass to get the hot water to the inside. I think you may need to back-flush your radiator. Take upper and lower hoses off the engine. Stick a garden hose in the lower and seal it best you can. Hold the upper hose away from the engine and turn the water on for about 10 minutes or more. You'l see a lot of stuff come out that shouldn't be in there. Maybe even a wrench or 2(kidding). But that's how to back-flush a radiator. Luck toya bro.

My 02 suburban 5.3 liter started overheating suddenly. I changed the themostat but it overheats in about a 1/4 mile. How do you tell if the water pump is bad? It's not leaking.

Start it up, when it hits operating temp that the thermostat open,Have gloves on that you don,t get burn,t, Seaze the hoses from the rad going to the engine one at a time to check if antifreeze is flowing trough them, If you don,t feel any flow on the top one ,the water pump is shot, Or you can take off the rad cap, Before you fire the truck up, Start it end watch if it is circulateing though the rad, But i have seen to many people get scolded that way, The hose trick is a safer thing to do. (PS) There could be a blockage ,That is causeing it to over heat All So,

2000 F150 Hard to steer, changed pump problem still there.

When ever you open up the lines to the power steering pump, there is a procedure you have to do to take the air out of the system, you have t raise your truck off the ground put it on jack stands, turn motor on and turn the wheels right and left and apply fluid to your pump as needed do this about 7 or 8 times, then put it back on the ground and if the air is out of the system, your power steering should return back to normal. you don't have to put it in gear when you raise it, so long as you can turn your steering freely to the right and left all the way. good luck!
