The car is showing "maintenace required" . Is there a way I can talk to my car's computer ('07 Camry) to get the Maintenance Code or must I pay for a service call?. If it's something simple - like an oil change - and I do it myself - do I have any hope of resetting the code?
You likely need the oil changed and the owners manual will tell you how to reset the the oil life warning.[maint req light]
If a code tripped then you have to run a diagnostics to it, you need a diagnostic plug hooked up to a computer which you most likely wont have something like an expensive Snap on diagnostic machine. Best bet is to take it to a service shop. Stay away from dealers if possible I have had experiences in where dealerships service will only add to the problem or purposely trip an error code to your cars computer to charge you up for a phony error. It does happen my friend.
Good luck.
Call the dealer and ask them what maintenace is required on your car at what ever milage your car has, you can do the maintenace work your self, but the maintenace light will still be on till it gets reset, maintenace light does not store any kind of code, it is just a remiander light to do scheuale maintenace on your car. Now a check egine light or service engine light is on that will store a code and will need to be service by a repair shop or dealer.
