2003 honda crv.... I need help with rear driver's side window glass. Does anyone know how to replace it? I've got the panel off and the old glass removed but that was easy 'cause some scumbag broke it for me. The new glass does not just slip in. I know there's a trick to it but I've lost my patience. Anyone? Please help.

    3. Carefully lower the glass, then remove the bolts and nut from the rear lower guide channel.
    4. Remove the glass from the rear guide channel.
    5. Apply protective tape around the painted surfaces of the window sash trim.
    6. Tilt the window forward and remove from the window slot.
  6. Loosen the bolts, then slide the lower guide forward and remove the window from the guide.
  7. Carefully pull the glass out through the window slot. Take care to not drop the glass.
  8. To remove the regulator, perform the following:
    1. Scribe a line around the rear roller guide bolt to mark its original position.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector and harness clip, then remove the regulator mounting bolts.
    3. Remove the regulator through the hole in the door.

1.) remove upholestry on door,, it has a few hidden screws, loke under the handle is a cover with it etc.. remove them and them pull upholestry off the door to seperate the clips..

2.) send window up,, u will notice the glass moves on a metal rod spline and is attached to it by means of a few screws on a bracket..

3.) have someone clasp the glass with both hands, as u remove the screws,, tilt the glass back then lift up and out,,

4.) reverse instructions to replace the new glass window..

  • Anonymous Jun 12, 2010

everything except the part about reverse order. On that door there is a fake vent window and the regular window seperated by a bar with a track for the window to slide in. You cannot just slip the new glass in. It seems like one must move the bar but how?

  • Anonymous Jun 13, 2010

you need to tilt it foward and slide it in at an angle while keeping it inline with the track .. then straighten it out and bolting it up..

First of all, if you have glass coverage, your new window will be installed for no charge to you; call your insurance company and check it out. That said, if you want to replace the window yourself you must remove the panel on the inside of the door to expose the window track. To do this, remove any visible screws and then use a stiff putty knife to pry up the panel. there will be clips, often plastic, holding that panel in place. If you break a clip do not worry as replacement clips are available for a few cents at any auto parts store. J.

Both insurace and dealerships will cost at least 250 that's why i bought my own glass. I've got the panel off no problem . It's putting the new glass in. Do i remove the post and fixed vent wing and if so how?

if u are in this much of a hurry i suggest u buy a manual at the parts store.

  • Anonymous Jun 12, 2010

I'm replacing the glass. I 'm new but I posted all this info already (I guess the site doesn't show you all my info). I was given the impression that this would be much faster than going to the parts house.

  • Marvin
    Marvin Jun 12, 2010

when another expert answers he dosn't see anything but the original post, which doesn't give the year, so every time a new expert tries to help he will ask for more info, this can go on and on, so I suggest you post a new question with all the information, as much detail as possible.

at this point the best thing for u to do is buy a repair manual

SOURCE: REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR PANEL

There are most likely a couple of screws mabye hidden under a little plug or plastic cover around the door handle and on the under side of the panel. Then if it is a crank style window you will have to remove the window crank handle, after that there are plastic panle pop clips you will just have to pull on panle and they should pop out, then lift the panle up off the window door seal.

SOURCE: Replacing drivers side rear view mirro in Mitsubishi Galant 1997

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door
