How do you disable a theft system on a 2002 ford mustang

Ford anti-theft systems don't act like that . If the PATS anti-theft system were the problem , it would not start at all . GM vehicles will act like that ,start then stall after a couple seconds . Now you will need to have new key's programmed into the vehicle . Depending on the type pats system it can disable the starter , That means the starter motor will not crank the engine . Or it disables the fuel system .

From my experience...
A non PATS coded key SHOULD not turn the STARTER...!

If ANTI-THEFT were invoked... you can attain a not start condition which the Owners Manual says must be cleared by the dealer.

A working PATS key should disable the anti theft... by turning the ignition on... ELSE try your other key.

You can't , your best bet is take your vehicle to the ford dealer an have it checked out . The ford PATS - passive anti-theft system is intertwined in all the computer systems on the vehicle . I don't even think you can go into the system with the ford diagnostic tool an disable it . There is no where you could just disconnect it , it's software programmed into the modules (computers) on the vehicle .

Hi, im a retired ford tech, with alot of experience on ford anti theft . Now if you are asking about a built in oem factory anti theft, your not going to be able to bypass it. Now to answer your question, I would say your factory anti theft IS NOT causing your issue. It will make it unable to start,it doesnt kill anything else.

On the older fords the theft module has 2 plugs in them. You can disconnct one of them, I believe it is the right one , and disable the security system. Finding the module is the hard part. most are located in the middle of the dash.

You are going to have to get the security system reset. You will probably have to contact the dealership if you don't have the code.
