Horn stopped working on 1993 volvo 940 turbo. Fuse is okay, but horns were very rusted, so purchased an equivalent horn from NAPA. I snipped the old wires, and reconnected new horn, but the horn still does not work

WITH KEY ON EVERY THING ELSE OFF PUSH THE HORN YOU SHOULD HEAR A SMALL CLICK THAT THE HORN RELAY IF SO TEST FOR POWER AT THE HORN MAKE SURE IT IS STILL CONNECTED IF POWER IS GOOD REPLACED HORN
Press panic button on the remote to check if horn is broken or if the switch in the steering wheel does not work.
Also check fuse for steering wheel module.
have the mechanic recheck his adjustments on the transmission range switch. the shifter shaft goes right throug the switch and it may have been adjusted or replaced when the backup lights were repaired
hi take the wires off the horn and using a set of jump leads from the battery conet the jump leads onto the horn and see if it works then, if not horn faulty, if works blown fuse or a broken wire regards
I believe it has power all the time and when the horn is pushed it grounds out and sounds the horn. Check for power then for it grounding abilitys, I have had rust in side that was not alowing it to make a good ground.
please check power going to horn with power tester or you can make your own with a bulb holder and two wires earth one wire and put other to the horn possitive and get some one the press horn if it lights then put one wire to the possitive and the other to the negitive press horn again if it lights then all wires and connections are ok so its your horn, if any time the bulb doesnt lighe then the problem lies it that wire.
Remove the wire connector from each horn and attach a voltmeter or test light. Have a helper push the horn button while you check for voltage. If there's no power getting to the horns you have to work your way back to the relay checking for shorts. If there is power try holding the horns metal mount against a good ground like an engine bolt or the sub frame. And with wire reconnected have your helper try the horn again. If it sounds then clean rust away from mounting bolt and car (rad support or grill bracket), and look for a loose or broken ground strap to the rad support (from either the battery or engine). If both horns still don't work either they're clogged with snow or dirt (bring them inside to defrost or clean out), or they need to be replaced.
