My 1998 Honda EX-G will not start at times. No sound or click is heard when attempting to start. However when I wiggle the wiring harness located near the left side of the engine block under the distributor assembly (I believe is the power supply to the starter) it will start. Just replaced the distributor assembly last week. I am stumped. Is there any way you can provide some insight? Thanks, Ray

The most likely cause is a failing neutral safety switch. See diagram and pic below. Find this part and check the connection.

If you are talking about just plugging into the speed sensor yes. A VTEC and NON-VTEC are one and the same.

Car just refuses to start

Clicking usually indicates low charge on battery, but it can also be the contacts from the battery to the engine and frame. Check the cables to see if they are not making good contact or corroded--if you are a DIY enthusiast change the battery cables or get a metal-wire brush & wrenches & clean everywhere they connect.

Another preliminary task is to do a wiggle test--wiggle all the wiring you can see under the hood & try restarting to see if there's an intermittant wiring or harness connection problem with anything under the hood. Honda Pilots have problems like this with the main wiring harness.

My 2000 honda accord ex wont start,

Is it a single loud click when you try to start it? Or multiple clicks or "buzz"? If it is a single click heard from the engine, your starter has likely failed. Test the battery first, and inspect the battery cables/connections for any looseness/corrosion.

I relaced the distributor on my 1998 Honda Civic EX 1.6 L, Manual transmission, A/C, cruise. I have heard tht there is a connector tht has to be jumped across in ordre to set the timing. Is that correct?...

At the end of the dash on the passenger side you will find a 2 wire connector that needs to be jumped to set the timing. Service check connector on Civic and CR-V uses a Brown wire and a Black wire. Connect the 2 terminals together and make your timing adjustment.......and don't forget to remove the jumper when you are finished.

Blower not working on 1998 gmc jimmy. use to wiggle wires under the hood and would work... not anymore. any suggestions?

start withe the harness you were wiggling, either you had a bad connection at one of the harness plugs or an internal short within the wires, do a voltage or continuety check on the live wires, an make sure you have a good ground
