High idle indicates that the engine most likely has a vacuum leak. This could be due to many causes; cracked hose or hoses, bad gaskets..ect. Hard to say exactly without more info, but you can open the hood and inspect the vacuum lines for damage or cracks. It is a 2009, so it probably is not something major.

The engine has a 3 stage idle, meaning that it will idle as high as 2000 RPM and then go to 1500 RPM, before going to low idle at about 900 RPM.

I had the same "problem with my 2007 Camry and with my current 2010 Matrix. Anyway, it's normal.

Try cleaning the Throttle Body and MAF (mass air flow sensor). If that doesn't fix it, an auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer can diagnose which sensor is causing it to dump fuel in 'Short Term Fuel Trim'.

2009 Toyota Corolla Matrix. I need a vacuum lines diagram for it please.

Question moved to model category.

Unlikely to be vacuum lines as they throw codes and cause the Engine Malfunction Light to be lit.

You need a local auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to diagnose the ECM, Powertrain Control Module, plus all the modules, sensors and the computer communication network between them all. It can even record what happens when you get to a hill and play it back!

Please help what can I do my Corolla 20vavle rsi blacktop the revels rise to higher when it starts

Normally when you start a cold engine, the revs is up and drops after the engine warms up. That is norm but if you say the revs goes higher after warm up, there could be many issues to check like leaking vacuum pipes, throttle lever if stuck, throttle position sensor etc

Mercedes e 320 cdi engine revs ok but will not engage reverse or drive to move

Just bought S 320 cdi , drives very well, but when starting engin cold , it only moves on R or D when I rev up to 2000 rpm , then drives normally , but if Istop the car , pull off again it goes very softly on 800 or 900 rpm . So the problem is the first start only. Is that normal or there is something wrong..advice me guys , Thak you

Corolla altis 1.8E ...bought in 2009 abs light on once start the engine for a second.... front driver tyre sound loud from normal if driving below 100 km/h..

If the ABS light goes out, and stays off you do not have an ABS issue-it is doing a self-check for that second. As for the noisy tire, you could try moving it to a different location to see if the sound moves-if so, you need a tire, if not, check your wheel bearings at that wheel.

1994 model toyota corolla - AE100

Don't think there's anything wrong with it. That's pretty normal for mine. If it's unusual behaviour for your car, check your coolant level. I almost ran mine dry last year and found in the days leading up to it that my idle revs were sitting around 2000 once the car heated up. If it turns out to be that I can give you some real handy tips for changing your coolant and flushing all the junk out. Much cheaper than a mechanic and good if you have a spare hour.
