I first noticed that there seemed to be a lot of vibration when it is in park, reverse, or drive when stopped at a light or something. the vibration was not as bad in neutral or while driving. Replaced the front motor mount and it helped but didn't stop the vibration. Then I noticed that sometimes my car did not seem to be shifting into overdrive and the D4 light would stay lit not matter what gear the car was in. When I would crank the car, the P and D4 lights would be on but if I let it warm up a little the D4 light would go off and it would drive normally. Been trying to figure out what was causing this but it acted fine when I had someone look at it. Then I got in the car the other day, turned the key and it didn't want to crank. I waited a minuet, tried again and it started then shut off. Tried a 3rd time and it started and ran fine untill after I got back home and went to leave again. It wouldnt crank at all and still won't crank. What may be causing this and are the problems related?

Your alternator is dead/dying. Nissan puts both of those lights on to tell you that the alternator isn't charging your battery.

Has anyone change the transmission fluid and used anything other than Honda ATF-Z1. If so, have the fluid/filter changed in this car and use only Honda Fluid. This is the only fluid that you can use in a Honda. Even if you have used the correct fluid an fluid/filter change may help. If that is not the case then I suggest you seek out a trusted professional.

Same problem, only 2nd and 4th gears (92 ex, auto with 175k). Missed diagnosed by previous mechanics, replaced engine coolant sensor. Couldn't figure that one out? Went back because problem reoccured within a week and now much worse than before. They diagnosed as bad TCM this time and want over $700 to fix, in addition to the other $300 I spent. Said a resister was burnt on the board. Did not believe them. I pulled the board myself (located under the pass. floor mat, disconnect battery, remove four screws and pull the wiring out and open it up). Looked at board myself did not see anything wrong, but does not mean that it isn't bad. Research on the web said that it might be a bad release solenoid on the shift handle? It's located in the center console underneath the plastic covering near the park brake. That checked out ok. So I ordered a TCM from allcomputerresources.com ($155) should be here in a couple of days. I hope this helps me and you. Good luck.

Check the transmission fluid level to make sure it's at the proper level. Have a transmission shop determine with a scanner that if it's your 3-4 solenoid or the wire harness has gone bad and will need to be replaced. You have a 4L60E transmission and this is common if your Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is faulty and needs to be replaced, easy fix, just replace the TPS on the throttle body. Your Electronic Pressure Control valve EPC is faulty due to dirt from dirty transmission oil and filter, or the solenoid has gone bad or the wire harness on the passenger side by the catalytic converter has gone bad from corrosion or loose. Try disconnect the wire harness on that side and cleaning it out with break parts cleaner and reattaching it to see if that helps before you drop the transmission pan to get to the solenoid. The solenoid is around $45.00 and take about 10 min to replace once the transmission pan is replaced so this should cost around $150.00 repair with the oil and filter replaced also have them replace the boost valve "$45.00" with a 0.490" boost valve to bring up the transmission line pressure to help you get more life from your transmission and should be replaced every 60,000 miles as a part of the transmission service. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help you get your transmission running 100% again soon.
