If my fuel filter is very clogged up can it cause gas to overflow out of the filler neck or line?? It leaks out so bad that it won't pick up any RPM's at all, it just dies. It does sometimes idle while the gas is leaking out. It seems to be leaking from where you put the gas in the car. The filler neck recepticle. I have a 1996 Chevy Cavalier. Leaking gas badly.

SOURCE: Chevy S10 Pick 1995 - Sputters and almost stalls when accelerating.

You could have a dirty EGR valve, you can re move it from the manifold and clean it with Throttle body cleaner. Might as well buy two cans, since your cleaning the EGR, might as well clean out the throttle body too.
Spray the throttle body cleaner in to the throttle body with the engine running and try to keep it at 1000 rpm and then to 1500 rpm as you clean out the throttle body and let it idle down for 2 min then turn the engine off. Then turn the engine to the run position for 10 seconds and start and let idle, ro for a test drive and hope that solved the problem, if not there a few more things we can do which will consist for tune up.
Note: Clean the EGR first so you don't burn your self since the engine would still be cool before you clean the Throttle body.
Good luck and keep me posted.

Check the condition of the O2 sensors in the exhaust system. If the car has a lot of miles, those sensors become worn and don't sense proper fuel mixture.

SOURCE: Replacing fuel filler neck on 2000 Crown Vic

Good news, no the tank doesn't have to come down. However, there needs to be less than 3/4 tank. Jack it up and set on a jack stand, remove the wheel, four screws housing to pipe, filler pipe sensing hose from filler pipe, screw retaining the cap, four retaining screws from filler pipe, screw from filler pipe retainer, slide into the tank until it can be rotated and pulled out through the fender. lube the tank grommet with clean oil and reverse the removal for install.

I have a 1999 Buick lesabre that is leaking gas from the area of the front of the gas tank near the passenger side back tire. What could it possibly be? The fuel filter maybe or a gas line?

Get a good mechanic to check the whole fuel supply system!
Is the filler hole that side? Fuel being a liquid can travel along surfaces so where it drips might not be where it's leaking.
The most common reasons for a fuel leak will be-
-a split or punctured fuel line.
-a loose or damaged filler neck joint.
-a loose fuel filter or it's housing.
It will be worth getting the fuel tank itself examined for damage as some older cars still used metal tanks.

I have 2010 mitsubishi endeavor milage is only 54695 it burns lot of gas

1) you might want to check the fuel filler tube to see if there any rust, resulting in fuel leaking out whenever you filled the tank.
2) check the fuel tank fill-up hose (sill hose) might have a hole- causing fuel leak when filling up the gas tank.
3) you might want to contact your dealer, there was a recall regarding the tank filler pipe and cap problems.

Gas Overflow

Sounds to me like a bend/kink in your filler neck, or someone stuffed a rag down there.

Remove the fuel filler cap and run a long, rigid wire down your filler neck - if you encounter significant resistance, remove the filler neck from the tank and investigate further.

GMC Jimmy gas filler neck leak

Replace your filler neck. It's not hard and when you buy the new one, installation should be obvious and rather straight forward.

A fuel leak is not something to take lightly and it will get worse over time.

Most fuel systems are pressurized (that's why you'll sometimes hear a hissing sound when you open your cap) so if your filler neck is leaking it can throw a code.
