I have a 2003 Honda Civic and I have had overheating problems off and on. I had it checked by 3 different mechanics, none could find the problem. I've replaced the thermostat and "burped" the radiator. It will be fine for a week or two, even on long 7 hour road trip, then suddenly overheat again, usually when stopping or idling. Any ideas? The oil isn't creamy or look like anything other than oil. Thanks

Overheating at idle , stop lights , slow moving traffic or hill work indicates a fan not working problem
if viscous fan hub drive off the water pump -replace the viscous hub r if electric fans check the coolant temp sensor , 2 fuses and fan relay and fan itself
of course you could have the fault codes read to see if there is a air/fuel mixture problem

SOURCE: car overheat

The rad fan is required to keep your engine at a normal operating temp. When you are going at hiway speeds the fan is not needed. When you stop then the fan has to operate to keep the engine cool.If the fan is not operating, it could be the fuse or fan relay or temp sensor or computer This problem should be checked by someone who is a professional..

SOURCE: What could make my 03 civic ex overheat and cool

your heater has apparently restricted the coolant flow....hopefully a good system back flushing will cure the problem....use a flush obtained from a parts house....I would buy the hose kit for flushing as well...good luck to you

2003 Honda Civic Dash Gauges Dead!

There could be a few potential causes for the dash gauges not working on your 2003 Honda Civic. Here are a few things to check:

1. Check the battery connections: Make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight. Loose or corroded connections can cause electrical issues.
2. Check the ground connections: Make sure the ground connections for the dash gauges are clean and tight. A bad ground connection can cause electrical issues.
3. Check the voltage regulator: The voltage regulator is responsible for regulating the voltage to the gauges. If it's faulty, it can cause the gauges to stop working.
4. Check the instrument cluster: It's possible that there's an issue with the instrument cluster itself. You may need to have it inspected by a mechanic.
5. Check for a blown fuse: Although you've checked the fuses already, it's possible that one of them has blown. Double-check the fuse for the instrument cluster to make sure it's not the issue.

If none of these solutions work, it's best to have a professional mechanic diagnose and repair the issue. They will be able to use specialized tools and equipment to identify the problem and find a solution.

What is wrong is that you changed a part

You failed to follow any trouble charts because
you have none

The sensor was most likely okey & just doing it's
job of reporting a fault

You could have a mechanical problem such as a timing
belt issue or worn VVT Actuators on the end of the cames

You have to diagnose code related issues & then find out
why a sensor reported as it did

Even if you scoped the sensor you would most likely
assume it was bad,not so,have to keep thinking why the
data was bad

You need professional tools & look at several pieces of data
overlayed on a big sceen at one time

Repair shop or dealer for that issue

This sounds like a physics issue, essentially there is not enough pumping energy at low engine speeds. Not too much that you can go about it.

Overheating from leak not visible

Hook up a cooling system pressure tester. If you have a pin point leak, the pressure from the tester will shoot coolant out of the leaking area.

Light on my 2003 Honda Civic tells me I have an emissions problem

Yes, the check engine light should not be ignored, even if there is no noticeable difference in operation. Regardless of what people are telling you, go get it checked. Take it to Advance or NAPA and they will pull the code for free.
