Older models had a yellow dip plug.

Volvo auto boxes are very sensitive to the wrong transmission fluid. If it was changed during the clean make sure the correct Volvo specified transmission oil was put back in.

You could be more specific with the issue:

• Transmission type (Manual/Automatic)?
• How did this issue appear?
• Does the car change gears normally?

Your car seems to be an automatic transmission model?
So the fault code is "Gear 3 Incorrect Ratio"

This means that you may have:

• Low transmission fluid level or dirty transmission fluid
• Faulty or dirty shift solenoids
• Transmission mechanical problems
• Transmission hydraulic control circuit issue

if you take it to a mechanic he will do it for you other wise you will have to go to an auto shop and buy some special tools.

i would check transmission fluid level first and condition of fluid change fluid if at all dirty check connections and wireing to selector switch and solenoids on gearbox if all ok have a diagnostic check done on gearbox at volvo dealer or transmission specialist

There no tranny drain plug, you must drop the pan to change the fluid and filter. Standard fluid is fne. I believe Dextron3 but double check with the autoparts store (tell them you have a volvo) and they can lookup the correct type of ATF.

Most oil/lube shops use a process of suctioning the old transmission fluid through the fill tube. On older cars, this process can damage the transmission since any metal fragments in the bottom of the transmission pan will be "sucked up" through the system. Since they won't perform the service properly (remove the transmission pan/filter and replace the filter). This is why they referred you to a dealer. Any transmission shop should be able to service your transmission. Best of luck!

Feel lucky your car has made it this far!!! I need to know engine, tranny, sub model etc..

i changed mine without the filter because i could not find one. i had no problem. the drain was in the bottom.
