thanks. I just replaced the thermostat. Could a thermostat with the wrong temp rating be causing fan to run continually.

then you need to get a professional scan tool and verify CHT input

    the kia has two sensors
one for the gauge and the other for the computer
I suspect the one for the computer is defective or the circuit is open

My 2000 Kia Sephia's engine races once the car warms up

could be anywhere from coolant temp sensor, throttle pos sensor, idle speed solenoid.

When I turn the engine off the main radiator fan keeps running and is draining the battery. Why?

well the electric fan will turn on and off at any time. when you stop your vehicle and the fan continues to run what is happening is the temp sensor says the motor is still too hot and it needs more cooling. now as it reaches the cooling temp it is also suppose to shut it down. have the sensors checked.

The heat in my car is not working - the fan works but all I get is a cool air. Could this be my thermostat?

Had a similar problem in a different type of vehicle. It turned out that my coolant level in my radiator etc was too low to supply hot fluid to the heater core. Check your coolant level see if that's it. If your thermostat was malfunctioning your car would be running too cool or too hot. Check the engine temp gauge if you have one; but this is a very unlikely source for your problem. If your coolant is low be on the lookout for leaks in the engine cooling system after the system pressurizes(reaches normal operating temperature).

Cooling fan continues to run after turning off ignition

For how long does the fan run after you remove the keys from the ignition?
It is cooling your system... but for how long. Too long will drain your battery. There is an sensor on the engine that activate the fans. If the fans are running more than 3min, change that sensor. Also check to see if you have enough antfreeze in the system. If not enough.. the cool fluid won't reach the sensor to signify that the system is cool.
Check fluid first, then the sensor

Where is thermostat on 2000 kia sephia runs hotter as rpm's increase runs a little cooler as rpm's decrease no coolant leaks 1 of the 2 fans is running when hot

Follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the engine block. Where it connects to the engine is where you'll find the thermostat. It's under a housing...should be two or three bolts holding the housing down. Don't forget to replace the gasket.

2000 kia sephia engine cooling fan not working

well, we have wired the cooling fan up direct before, bypassing the relay switches. maybe this will help on repair costs.
