My Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera with the 2.5 will not stay running

My Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera with the 2.5 will start, idle for a second and shut off. I've replaced the whole fuel pump assembly, fuel filter, MAP sensor, Idle control sensor, throttle positioning sensor, and the crank sensor..

Is the ignition module connected to the heat sink?

There is spark when the car stalls.. I just replaced the ECM and the car still does not run. Now I'm having issues with fuel. The car pumps from the fuel filter but nothing comes out of the injector.

There is power to the injector but nothing comes out when cranking the motor.

I got a new injector from a local parts store. I found out that there was fuel making it into the throttle body but not through the injector. The car now runs. I had to get one from a calais though.

What you should do when it stalls is check to see if your loosing spark at the plugs. If you are then you probably have a bad ignition module. It is located in the rear of the motor. The ignition coils are mounted on it.One other possibility is the pcm.It is located under the dash on the passengers side. You can get a used one at most salvage yards. You will need to get the number from the old pcm.You will also have to remove the old prom from the old pcm and install it in the one you get for replacement.Hope this helps.Good luck.

What do you mean by heat sink? The ignition module gets it`s signals from the crank and pcm and uses these signals to fire the coils and from the coils then to the plugs.

I don`t know if you have a noid light to check and see if you have power to the injector. But if not you can just use a test light and see if it lights when cranking the engine. It should blink on and off while the engine is being cranked.

It`s possible the injector could be plugged or you could have a bad regulator. If you can find a salvage yard try a used one.It will be a lot cheaper. If this takes care of the problem then you can get a new one unless you feel good about the used one.
