Was the pump timing Mark linger up as well ? Usually if you align the crank , cam , and fuel pump you don't ususlly have a drama, since you didn't check the pump I would say it would have sprung back on the cam and springs inside the pump and would be out a few teeth, you will need to recheck the timing, you may also need to re time the pump as well, I'm assuming it a VE pump! If you don't check you will probably won't start or will run very rough, hope this helps
u will have to 1st remove the clutch fan, and losen the belt by turning the tensioner, then remove the fan shroud, this will allow you to remove the fan completely, then once the fan is removed this will allow you ful access to the water pump.at times the pump will be seized onto the engine block so it may require some shaking back and forth.once removed, you can use a thin coat of vascaline to seat the new gasket onto the new pump...good luck.
test alternator for health--fuel injectors and fuel pump regulator cud be failin--make sure belt is rite tension cause it effects others output--get online for specs
There is a small resister unit in the gas tank,on your fuel pump, that registers fuel level by electrical current. If this is stuck in the up position it will register full all the time.Don"t laugh, but find a rough road and see if it will come loose,No I'm not kidding. If this doesn,t work the unit will have to be replaced because its broken. This involves changing a perfectly good fuel pump out as well to fix this because the two components are built together. Good Luck
if your happy the belt is in good condition; then your problem is simple;your alternator belt needs tightened it simply come loose and will come off if not tightened.hope this helps.adrian
