All piggybacking on a 2010 with gas engine
over a DDIS 1.9 diesel, now that dont work

Mr. ETCHU (I have the Full FSM book on this car)
NO JOB STATED, (wow !)
just nebulous ? "Marks"
you posted no year car, but most Vits have the J20a
the J20b is VVT engine, later and different.
and said timing But OF WHAT>? no job.
the left rear cam CMP sensor spark timing
or the Chain ????? try using full noun names of parts.
and win.
Ill guess chain as the CMP timing is why too long.....(have it)
the timing on all j20s is easy, twin cam 4 banger gas, and is
chain driven on all j20s
first off , the engine IS INTERFERENCE,
so dont go spinning cam or crank willly-nilly, ;and bam.
(belt off)
step 1 is set the marks aligned first before CHAIN OFF!!!!!

this engine began life here, as a J18, and books on all work j18-j20 here.
on topic.

the crank is marked for TDC
as are both sprockets.
here is the parts list view, from Suz.
http://fixkick.com/engine/20Liter/images/engine7.jpg

here is it real
http://fixkick.com/engine/20Liter/html/image_32.html

the chain is time like this.
on all J20s.

ill post the 4 steps (install ) first from FSM
Installation
Align all sprocket timing marks with timing marks on block. See Fig. 6 . Ensure key on
crankshaft sprocket is pointing up. Check that arrow on idler sprocket faces up.
1.
Install 2nd timing chain by aligning Yellow plate of timing chain with arrow on idler
sprocket. Install sprockets on intake and exhaust camshafts by aligning Dark Blue plate of
2nd timing chain.
2.
Insert a push pin into timing chain tensioner and press plunger back into tensioner body.
Ensure plunger does not come out. Install timing chain tensioner with gasket and tighten to
specification.
3.
Remove push pin from timing chain tensioner. Turn crankshaft clockwise 2 rotations then
align timing marks. Ensure all timing marks align. Apply oil to timing chains, tensioner,
sprockets, and guide. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.

now the photo of marks
this is the FSM page, for both engines.

but if the job was.
I unbolted the CMP sensor from left rear cam
that takes special scan tool , to freeze spark timing
to set it, ask. (its covered in the book, all that)
or log in to mitchell's, and READ .?

i have the full pdf on chain, if you need it.

Check around the inside (towards the block) edge or crank shaft pulley by the lower passenger side of the engine. Otherwise it will be by that pulley on the bloc, those are the only laces I've known them to be. Hope it helps

Suzuki Grand Vitara DDIS. Poor fuel economy?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

That is the ball park figure. A lot depends on how heavy footed you are and how you use the brakes.

My egr valve on a 2007 suzuki grand vitara DDiS is clicking when I turn off the engine.

why would you do that. (if in usa its illegal and prove of tampering)
1: besides smog (NOX reduction) it does 2 other things.
2: it lowers exhaust valve temperatures, making them last and last.
3: it increase MPG, mileage. (can be proven easy with a simple test)
4: reduces PING, (detonation damage)
NOt only that, the ECU/PCM will fail the P04xx tests. and then not be able to inject or run spark advance correctly (see ping)

how to make a blank off, why? just unplug it.

Who makes the diesel engine in the suzuki grand vitara

The 1.9-litre diesel engine in the latest version is sourced from Renault and delivers a hefty 221 ft lbs of torque for reassuring operation both on and off road. This power makes the Grand Vitara a far more versatile proposition, with even enough power to pull a small caravan if required.
