If you hear the motor turn or try to turn the regulator cable is most likely snapped and wound up in one of the pulleys. You will have to remove the door panel and cut the cable with some tin snips or a similar tool. You could then pull the window up and wedge a piece of wood in the door panel to hold the window up. The regulator / motor assembly is only about $150 from the dealer. Check out this link for some pictures and step by step instructions on removing your door panel.

Mercury mariner. the front passenger window went down but will not go up. took door apart and got the regulator out . I put 12 volts directly to the motor off the battrey and it seems to work fine.

Some have a hands off power window that automatically completes the up or down operation of the window. These have a relay in each door to keep power to the window motor once you let off of the switch.

Replaced battery, now auto windows wont come up auto automatically

If on a GM car the battery has been disconnect the windows may need to be reprogrammed
The following steps explain how to program the side door window regulator motors:

  1. Press and hold the power window switch until the window is fully DOWN. Continue holding the power window switch for approximately 3 seconds.

  2. Press and hold the power window switch until the window is fully UP. Continue holding the power window switch for approximately 3 seconds.

  3. The power window regulator motor is now programmed for the express function.

  4. Repeat this process for all of the power windows.

How to manually roll up an automatic window on a 96 pontiac sunfire??

If the window has screws or bolts holding it to the regulator track, take them off, push window up, then wedge something against the glass to hold it up.
Since you have the door panel off, can test the motor by jumper wires or cables from a battery set nearby. Just hook jumper wires from battery to motor terminals, if nothing happens reverse the leads on the battery, if still nothing motor is bad.
Reversing polarity to the motor is how the switch can make it go up or down, with only two wires to the motor. I mean, if hot wire to motor on one wire, the other wire carries the power to ground. When you push switch the other way, the wire that was putting power to the motor is now carrying that power to ground through the switch. That's why you can reverse the battery jumper leads to the motor to check both up and down operation.
Hope I haven't confused you. Post back for more (?confusion?).lol.

Toyota corolla altis 2003, driver side power window is not working properly when using the auto button, if you close the window using the auto button it automatically closing but when it reaches to the end...

I had the same problem with my 2002 Altis. I found a solution after a lot of research and reading in the web.

1. Remove the power window motor from the regulator (mechanism).
2. Reconnect the power motor to the electronic controller(switches).
3. Perform "Auto Down" an wait until the motor stops.
4. Put a mark in the motor gear.
5. Perform "Manual Up" slowly until the gears rotates around 6 times but not greater than 10 times.
6. Remove the motor from the electronic controller.
7. Re-assemble whole power window assembly.

1993 Lexus LS

To put the windows up manually you will need to get inside the door. It sounds like you could have a bad switch. If you take the door off or can take out the window switch panel, put a jumper wire on the switch that tell the window to go up. If this is not working go directly to the motor where you can give the motor power by closing the circuit at the motor and the window will either go up or down. If it goes in the wrong direction just reverse the polarity of the wires.

Power windows

Remove the front door trim panel.
2. Disconnect the 2P connector from the motor.
Connect the motor terminals directly to battery voltage (12V) and check that the motor operates smoothly.
Next, reverse the polarity and check that the motor operates smoothly in the reverse direction.
If the operation is abnormal, replace the motor.

Rear window on 1986 ford bronco

I had the same problem with mine and I drilled out the rivets holding the motor in. Have someone hold the window up when you do this so it don't fall. after you get it drilled and you can let it down you should be able to remove the window from the track through the panel. It has been a while since i had done it but the window motor was very reasonable.... make sure you are getting power to the motor before going through all of this because you might be able to put power to it and make it roll down.
