My 1998 lincoln town car started overheating, took it to the shop and the mechanic said it was the fan motor so he bought a new fan motor, he said the conector for the fan motor was burned a little but he could fix it. well it overheated again and he replaced the connector to the fan motor. now the air condition is blowing hot air. what could be wrong?

Ok the air conditioner is not switching on in the fuse box in the engine compartment right hand side standing in front of the car in this fuse box you have relays two small black ones try swapping them over if this works replace faulty one ps make sure your air con does not need regassing as it will not work if low on gas good luck

Hello,Be sure the compressor clutch is cycling. Also, check the orifice tube, evaporator and condensor for blockages. Freon level should be checked with manifold gauges and compared to specs.
Thanks

Overheating when driving around town with the AC on--how do you fix the propblem?

Now What !

You should have stopped using it when it first overheated,
& had the issues diagnosed.

You need a dealer or repair shop, unless you have a full set
of factory work shop manuals & powertrain control & emissions
diagnostic manuals, for the year of your car, avail from Helm.Com

I have a 1998 1/2 Lincoln Town Car. Yes, some of the parts were changed over that year, as to why I am saying 98 1/2 At any rate, the car is overheating. I have changed the thermostat and radiator cap,...

maybe your cooling fan isnot working, electric under the hood.

Can you hear it come on when ou turn a/c on? It should also come on when engine coolant temp sensor gets hot enough to tell the computer to turn it on.

So, check fan motor operation ECT Sensor operation, & a/c making cooling fan run too.

My 1998 cavalier overheated in the spring.Thermostat, hoses, radiator all checked out, Mechanics bypassed the heater core to see if problem stopped. It did. Thought it over because of cost, and finally...

Could be the water pump itself. If the impeller blades have worn out then it won't push enough water through. Possible head gasket too, that can be tested at a shop. Possible clogged radiator, if the heater core was clogged, more then likely the radiator is too.

I have a 2002 Lincoln LS. I've owned it for

I have put my lincoln ls in shop 5 times almost once year for over heating.. first 3 times they replaced the fan motor and fan.. worked for few months and went out again in 2 years have had 3 fan motors. Finally over heated again and they said it was radiator.. so for 800.00 they put in new radiator and as wife was driving car home it overheated.. OMG how insane and they would not refund.. so they took car back in and said it was the water pump.. guess what the so called water pump is really a Hydraulic pump.. so they changed it, fan motor, and new radiator..
Now have all this new and one year exactly car is over heating again.... Solution Get rid of the LS or all us complain to lincoln and for this car is a LEMON....
