Electrical issue The battery in my 2005 Town & Country was low. I applied the jumper cables incorrectly to the battery and the battery started to smoke. I quickly reversed the connectors and now the car starts. However, the air conditioner does not work, the interior ABS brake light is on, and the control panel that displays tripometer and thermometer is not working. Did I fry something?
Check the fuses in the fuse box just above the battery and see if there is anything (fuses) that popped. I did the same thing but got away with nothing being damaged.

Disconnecting the battery is never a good idea as it breaks the code paring between the key, the BCM / ECM and Immobilizer Module. Always charge a car battery in the car without removing it. Even a dead battery has enough volts to keep the ECM / BCM programming alive. Have all the keys done at the same time. If you only have one key, have another chip key cut and programmed. You don't mention a second key, and we get so many people here who lose their only key and ask how to bypass and hot-wire. The answer to that is "you can't".
What does code P0513 mean? The OBD-II code P0513 stands for 'incorrect immobilizer key. ' The code activates when the PCM fails to recognize the immobilizer key (ignition key) despite detecting its presence.

We have the same issue currently...very randomly...with our 2008 Caravan at the moment. Wife just got ...
First of all, you are very lucky you didn't blow yourself up.
Crossing jumper cables can destroy radios, amps, blow fuses and in extreme cases even ruin an alternator, or worse, your car's EFI or PCM (although they are usually protected with a relay that opens if reverse current is applied to it). Not mention you can blow up your battery. You need to get it to a mechanic before you cause any more explosions.
Sounds like you may have a bad multifunction switch. I can help you
figure this out but you will need a test light or voltmeter and a couple
of jumper wires. You will also need to be able to remove the steering
column cover to gain access to the switches electrical connectors.
If the above is possible let me know and I'll be happy to help.

Possible dead cell in battery, most likely a fault in the charging system. First, Jump Vehicle to get started then remove the Negative cable. If the vehicle dies when you take the jumper cables away or when you disconnect the negative cable your alternator or charging system is faulty. If the vehicle runs without battery connected you have a bad cell in your battery, replace the battery.
Can't find confirmation on that running through BCM,(body control module) but I have a suspicion it does, seeing how all door locks, rear window defroster etc are all through the BCM. Might be worth it to remove battery cables, then remove connector to BCM & clean all the connections/contacts good & retry it just to see if that helps in any way.
