98 Jaguar Vanden Plas- Trunk light will not light when the trunk lid is fully open only when lid is nearly closed. Is there and adjustment?

check fuses and relays --check power to switch and test switch if switch bad replace and if need access now can jump switch to release actuator --but if key doesnt work either the problem sounds like a damaged latch or debris stuck in latch lock --if key turns try pushing down and up on trunk if latch is not cooperating then will need to remove rear seat

could be frozen if it has rained or snowed. you can try to open it by pulling on it a little harder, but you may risk damaging the weatherstripping of the car or the latch handle or latch. Pour some warm water down around the door, avoid the windows, might thaw them out.

I have never seen a trunk button that had to be "reset". I have replaced many that were defective. I have also repaired the circuits that go to them on many vehicles.

If your electric trunk release is not working, the first place I would look would be to check for broken wires inside the conduit that runs between the car body and the deck lid.

Other than that, the circuits must be diagnosed using the wiring diagrams for the vehicle and the proper testing methods to pinpoint the cause of the malfunction.

HI, to locate the battery you need to open the boot/ trunk then look on one of the sides you should see a panel will pull open giving you access to the battery, from what i can remember its on the right hand side in the trunk/boot, have a look you should be able to find it now you know where you are looking.

if there is a fuse panel under the hood fine positive studs and use those then ground to frame should juice up enough to open trunk

I think you must replace the battery with the new one
and the open the trunk

I beleive that it tells you that the trunk is open. You may have a problem with the trunk switch.

They are located at the outside of the boot hidges, a little way back.

try using your black key to open manually if this fails a common problem is a sticky lock due to moisture use lubrication in the lock and try again
