No airflow to instrument level vents! Cadillac 2002 Dev.

A/C and heat are working fine. Airflow to the foot area is good. It would appear, the port that should open to give airflow to the instrumnent level vents (chest level) does not open when in that mode. There is a ticking noise for about 45 seconds after starting the car; as if a port was trying to open?

Thanks for your input.

Agreed, if you hear clicking in the dash when attempting to adjust the airflow mk most likely plastic gears skipping or stripped. I had a couple of the actuator motors gummed up in my GMC (same design) and was able to pull them out, open them up and clean out the old grease and reapply a this wax based lubricant and they have been fine for the past couple years so far. Might be worth a try. If not they aren't super expensive.

SOURCE: Cold AC but weak Airflow---Also Driver side not as cold as passenger

The air doors are controlled by actuators that on of them or so may need replacing.

My car is a 2001 mercury grand marquis. My heat and air works but i get very little air coming into the cabin. I ran a self test on the eatc but did not get any errors.

Blend door only regulates the temperature of the air coming through. Mode door operates to direct airflow to floor vents, dash vents, and/or defrost vents. I would check for obstructions to the airflow - look in the cowl area above the firewall where the air is drawn into the HVAC system. A lot of leaves and tree trash can accumulate in 18 years. Also check to see if you have better airflow when you select "recirculate". If so, it would seem your problem is in the intake cowl area.

I have a 2004 Durango and I get very little air out the defroster and no heat out front flood foot well vents

I assume that it is even with the blower running at full speed. It might be the flap door that redirects the air either inside or recirculate respectively the ones that redirect the airflow to the various ports i.e. upper and lower

1998 Cheyenne blower only blows to floor vents. Heat and a/c and blower fan speed work fine .

the slider switch to direct the airflow is connected to a cable which is connected to a flap which directs airflow to the desired vents. something has gone awry. you can most likely pull the heater control unit and see if the heavy wire cable is off at that end. if not it is at off at the other end or the flap has broken or popped out of its swivel.
