This code will not stall or no start of your engine, evap only work when engine is off, it is to reduce the fume your gas tank lets out to protect the o zone, but it will not pass Emission test, also could be some thing a small as your gas cap not sealing right.

How do I fix code p0455 evaporative emission system leak detected (gross leak / no flow) on a 1996 dodge stratus

It appears that the hose to the carbon canister is either disconnected or has a hole in it. It won't hurt your car to drive it this way. If you are really concerned about it, replace the carbon canister and the connecting hose and forget about it for another 15 years or so.

P0442 Means you have a small leak in your EVAP system. P0455 is a large leak.
The EVAP system prevents gas vapors from entering the air .
This code can be set by a leak in the lines or a clogged charcoal canister.
Most common reason is If you did not put your gas cap on all the way.

Dodge Durango code shows 0051: where is Sensor 1/Bank 2? Where can I find a pix or diagram? Code also showsP0700 & P0455; what do these mean? Thanks.

Bank 1 is the same side of the engine as the number one cylinder. Bank 2 is the other side of the engine. Sensor one is always before the catalytic converter. Sensor 2 is always after the catalytic converter.

P0455 is an EVAP leak check the evap hoses for cracks/leaks.

P0700 is a generic code that lets you know you need to scan the transmission control module to see what codes are stored in it.

2002 dodge carvan shows code P0455 evap emmision system leak gross leak/no flow

That last time I fixed this code it ended up being a leaking EVAP hose on top of the fuel tank. I had to drop the tank and put new sealant on the hoses to stop the leak.

P0455=EVAP Emission Control System Leak (Large Leak)

Possible gas cap fix, cheapest try first.

Check the gas cap thoroughly, the P0455 code your getting for the large leak isusually a bad gas cap.

Also check the lines on the canister tank, right underthe passengers side of the cab, there are two lines on top that will rotand fall off or get loose enough that they will cause that problem.

You can also check on the passengers side fender well under the hood andlook at the elbows on the EVAP valve that has the hoses that run downto the canister tank, chances are one of them is loose or bad.

Best to get a factory service manual to have handy through all of this. Promanuals.net has complete factory ones for around 20 bucks. Here is a link 2001 Dodge Ram Service Manual.
