My 2002 volvo s60 is completely dead. could it be the battery? if so i need to give it a boost. where is the battery lcoated in the car
The battery is located in the trunk underneath the floor. there should be a handle on the floor and you lift it up to get to the battery. there is a positive battery cable post under the hood near the driver side strut mount, next to the fuse box.
Stoopid Volvo Engineers made it real handy-for Them to HIDE the battery, out of the way-but a pain in the rear for end-users.
Open the Trunk, and you'll find the battery is HIDDEN, near the taillight-driver's side. Pull up the trunk floor, and then use a socket wrench to remove two bolts-of DIFFERENT SIZES! One bolt prevents easy access. The other bolt, ostensibly, secures the battery. Although, sitting in such cramped quarters, I doubt the battery would move, without the bolts. That's why I've left my bolts off.
Most likely it is the battery, the battery is most likely located under the hood of the car close to the engine.
2002 Volvo S60 battery is located in trunk of vehicle. If you are at a non-volvo shop and are told that they cannot clear codes, you are most likely going to have to take it to Volvo for them to clear codes/error messages. If you are experiencing battery-charge problems, save yourself money, time, and annoyance by changing battery before it beats up excessively on your alternator.
