The eighth digit in the VIN number on the trucks dash (view from outside the truck on the drivers side) is the engine code. I believe M is a 350 and P is a 305.

WILL A 4L60E TRANSMISSION OUT OF 1999 CHEVROLET SURBURBAN FIT AND WORK IN A STOCK 1972 1/2 TON CHEVEROLET PICKUP 350 ENGINE

It will fit but a 4l60e is an electronic transmission and will require a transmission control unit. Or you could buy a manual valve body and shift it manually. Also drive line might need to be modified.

14015445 engine number identification

As long as the motor mount line up the engine will swap out ok but you may have to change the ECM for the truck or reprogram the one you have. In addition be sure the tranny will bolt up and the drive shafts are the same length.

1989 chevrolet pickup half ton, what motor is stock.

That year should have been either a 263ci 4.3L V6 for C - series trucks and the 350ci HO 5.7L V8 for K -series trucks.

1989 Chevy 1 ton wont start

It is likely the electronic ignition control module. When they go, they just go bad and usually when you are driving.

If it was a smaller vehicle it could also be a timing belt but your's has a heavy duty valve train so no worries there.

I have a 1993 chevy 1/2 ton pickup with 5.7 liter and I cant get the four wheel drive to work when i put it into four whell the rear wheels alternate when slipping as they should but nothing from the front...

First of all try checking your fuse box and make sure the 4X4 fuse is still good. If the fuse is good, move the shift lever for the 4X4 on the floor into 4 high, then get a friend to watch underneath when you move the vehicle a little bit to see if the front driveshaft is turning. If the front shaft going to your differential is turning the problem is probably the electric actuator on the differential.

Remove the front disc rotor

The rotor and hub assembly are held together by the studs, you must first remove the 4-wheel drive hub assembly, then the wheel bearing nuts, and pull the hub and rotor off as a unit. Next lay it(back down) on a piece of wood, using a drift punch drive the studs out. Turn it over ,lay it(face down) on a block of wood, line the new stud splines up with the grooves in the hub and drive them in with the punch and reassemble. A set of dentist style picks will be helpful with the clip in the 4wd hub and a 4 lug 4wd nut wrench will be needed.
