12 and 55. The 55 means end of code session, the 12 means no distributor reference. Both of these codes are normal with the engine not running, so do not go out and purchase a dstributor. Is there another problem with the vehicle, or did you just want to know the codes? Comment back to continue, thanks.

12 means the battery has been disconnected or dead in the last 50 key turns.... 55 means end of diagnostic test...

Where is the obd port on a1994 jeep grand cherokee

HI there:
For the engine computer, the connector is in the engine compartment, right beside the coolant overflow bottle. It should be clipped to the wiring harness, and may have a plastic cap on it. It's shaped like a fat L.

Extracting Fault Codes:
Without ever starting the engine Turn the ignition switch ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON and observe the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. The CHECK ENGINE LIGHT should begin to flash a series of codes. The flashes will be separated by short and long pauses. The long pauses separate the "ones" and "tens" positions, and each code from the next. A code 55 will be displayed at the end of the test.

Hope this helps.

Can codes be pulled from 95 jeep without a scanner

Yes. Turn the ignition switch to ON, do not engage the starter. Do this 3 times. On the third time leave the key in the ON position and start counting the number of times that the Check Engine Light flashes on and off. There will be a slightly longer pause when it is flashing out the next digit. Then go to http://autorepair.about.com/library/ts/obd-i/bl-dtcs-75a.htm and see what your code(s) mean.

1995 jeep grand cherokee larado engine code reading 34155

Hi Angela:
We cannot understand your "345155" fault code, keep in mind that 1993-1997 codes just have two digits. I suggest re-check to read and note your fault codes acdording with this read codes procedure, with out starting the engine: turn the ignition key on, off, on, off, and finally on.

The check engine light on the dash will begin to flash. The light will flash the first number of the first digit pause and flash the number of the second digit. Example: five flashes, pause, three flashes = Code 53 PCM failure or Code 54 no cam shaft position sensor signal from distributor etc, etc.

Try this and send us this fault code to send you additional detaild.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

Fault code

There you have two codes:
1 2 or 12 = Battery recently unpluged
5 5 or 55 = End of Test.

So, you dont have malfunction codes in there, this is good.

More details can find in :
- Read Check Engine Codes
- Reset ECU Procedure

Hope help with this (remember rated this DIY and this post, an comment it).

Try again and verify, for example.

5 flashes, pause 5 more, is code 55.(end of message)
always 2 digit number, then slightly longer pause in between those 2 digits.

Check enggine

Do a self test. Turn key to on position and back to off position 3 times. a series of flashes will commence from the "check engine" light. The first set of flashes is the 1st digit of the code, then there will be a pause, then a 2nd set of flashes, This will be the 2nd digit of the code. For example, 3 flashes, pause, 7 flashes, means code 37. Check what the code means in a Haynes auto repair manual. This will tell you what the engine light on your car means.
