1998 Chevrolet Corvette Logo

I have a 1998 corvetter. Recently the AC "snowflake" button central light on fan panel started blinking when I push "ON" for AC. Shortly after a few blinks it goes off. then goes off when I hit AC button. The air is not extremely cold. I had a Feon booster and leak check performed two years ago and no leaks were detected and the AC worked fine up until now. The codes were rest to zero. Still persists the same problem. Does it need anohter FREON Boost? Thanks for your help

Why would it pask the leak test if the front seal was leaking on the compressor? Should I replace FREON one more time if no leaks are found? Thanks for your suggestions and help.

This light is on because the system is cycling the ac compressor to often, this means the system is low on charge, this means u have a leak, the leak is either the compressor front seal or the ac condensor core, both of which many times pass leak tests.

Testimonial: "Your suggestions are helpful but how do I check for leak on the compressor if no pressure leak is found with testing?"

I have been doing ac work for 35 years and if i had a saw buck for every system that had a leaking compressor front saft seal that passed a leak test I would be able to retire, have done 100's same goes for condensor leaks

Thanks , This was helpful. How much should it cost to replace the seal on the compressor? Are you near Pasdena?

Don't waste your time with the seal, just replace the compressor with a rebuilt unit.

Testimonial: "thanks, I will recheck again for leak."

2004 camry ac light blinking and throws hot air. Suggestions?

My 2003 Toyota Camry AC often starts blowing hot air and the AC light starts blinking. I don't know why the following process works, but it does. Using the temp selector (left) reduce the temperature all the way down to Max Cold and then push the Auto button. It will start blowing out very cold air. After a little while push the temp selector to the desired temperature.

I tried turning on my air conditioner in my 06 gmc envoy denali by hitting the snowflake button it started to blink then it stoped and went off please help me

you need to get your ac serviced and computer checked for an air conditioning system code/malfunction. when the light in the button flashes it means a problem has set a code in your body control module that controls the ac.

How do I turn on my air conditioning on my 2005 caravan. I do not have an owners manual. Thank you.

Looking at your climate control panel, you should see a square button on the upper right section with a snowflake symbol on it.

Depressing this button should cause an amber LED to light when the blower fan is on, and activate the AC compressor.

You will also activate the compressor when you select defrost with the mode knob.

With my 1998 TC you have to start car turn to cold and fan on high. Tehn hold down the rear wiper and WASH buttons until the lights start flashing differently. Let it run through until only the rear wiper light is blinking. You should here it cycling through the different functions. When it is jsut the rear wiper blink press that button and the system is reset if there are no problems. A low voltafge problem had caused mine to act up.

AC & Rear wiper switch button indicator lights blink

The procedure for re-setting the HVAC control panel on a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan follows:
With ignition on but not running
1. turn knob to air vents
2. turn fan knob to ON
3. temperature setting on COLD (2X) {I have dual temp controls}
4. hold top(rear wiper) and bottom (rear wiper with wash) buttons pressing down together until all the buttons cycle through (this will require 1 to 2 minutes of continuous pressing)
I learned this from a very helpful local Dodge service adviser
