2004 hyundai santa fe
When turn the steering wheel to the right I get a hum from the front end. When I turn it to the left it goes away. It not a typical powersteering scwelch, but i'm not ruling that out.

Your Rack and Pinion (Steering Rack) could be going out, did you check to see if you have the proper amount of power steering fluid in the reservior?

  • Anonymous May 27, 2010

I did check the power steering fluid, it was completely full. Are there any other indications to look for to determine if the rack and pinion is the issue?

  • Boneebone May 28, 2010

Rack and pinion steering systems fail a number of ways, when internal clearances become too large from normal wear and use, leaks can develop, causing a loss of fluid. They can become "loose" and exhibit a condition known as wander, they can become difficult to turn or cause scraping dragging noises, usually the pump should be replaced as well, due to metal contamination when an internal problem has developed.

2010 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited V6 why the key remote want lock the left front driver door?

You may need to replace the power lock actuator motors inside the door . Alternatively, you can try disassembling the paneling on the left side under the steering wheel and removing two black relays on the side closest to the steering wheel. Then remove the relay covers and clean the contacts with a 1/8 fine strip of 600 wet/dry sandpaper.

What is wrong with 2004 Hyundai santa fe 4wd only front wheels spin hear a noise and see tcs light come on but no change to rear wheels

Sounds like transfer case is not being activated. The vehicle is front wheel drive with an electronic activated transfer case to put power to rear wheels. The traction control (TCS) could also be putting on rear brakes so hard it is not letting them turn but sounds like transfer case not working. Note - If you run these vehicles in air (all wheels off ground) it does not like it and will turn on TCS, stability control, and other things.

2007 Santa Fe. Brake lights and battery light come on when steering wheel is turned hard to the lef tor to the right. Lights go off when wheels pointed straight ahead. Rough sounds from motor. Very hard to...

There are a number of problem mentioned on the internet about brake problems and brake calipers seizing up. Smoke and smell from the right front wheel might lead a person to believe there is the best place to start looking.

Vibration on left side in front

Could be a wheel bearing. If you notice it more when you make a hard right turn (ie more force is applied to the left front wheel while make a right turn) then it is def a wheel bearing.

2004 Santa Fe Ignition switch locked

I just had this happen to me yesterday with my 2002 Santa Fe. After trying everything (jiggling steeling wheel, shaking the car, you name it we tried it). We got a chain and pulled the car ahead about 2 feet. That didn't seem to do anything but we then pulled up the emergency brake into the lock position and tried to start the car (with the ER brake on) and it worked!!! The steering wheel came unlocked and the car started up. Don't know if it was the pulling of the car that broke something free or if it was the ER brake, but that was what worked for me.
