hi ive got the same motor but mines on a 96 plate check your electric fan shis should be cutting in to reduce temp when u are stuck in traffic

Mine did the same thing. Try adjusting the idle. But if you adjust it too much it may run rich

Possible air leak take off engine covers and spray with wd40 whilst engine is running if idle increases and engine becomes less erractic then air leak is were you sprayed wd40 normally its a gasket gone
