Take a hard look at the (ECT) engine coolant temperature sensor on the engine. The location for the sensor is just to the right side of the thermostat. To test the sensor on the engine use an ohm meter to do test. With the engine cold remove plug from sensor and connect the testing leads to sensor (do not let the two leads touch one another during test). Test should show 7,000 to 13,000 ohms. and when the engine has run and got hot retest it again, the reading should be 700-1,000 ohms. If any of this test is wrong then replace the sensor. Hope this will help you.

Why does my 93 Caravan Start fine and run great till it warms up then dies and wont start untill it cools back down.

I had the same problem a few years ago and it was the coil pack breaking down. If it starts missing before it dies id get a new coil pack. Before u buy a coil pack you need to get it warm again and just before it dies look underneath the vehicle to see if the catalytic converter is starting to get hot, if it is hot and usually getting red hot, its stopped up.It will fool you in to thinking that the coil is bad.

Our 1995 Dodge caravan starts fine dies.

Do the following

Here are the most common causes of idle surge, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

2001 Dodge Caravan heater blows cold air when stopped

Have you checked the coolant level? What you describe is exactly what happens if the coolant level is low. When stopped at idle, hot coolant is not circulating through the heater core, so no heat. As the engine increases in rpm's when you pull away from the light, the water pump is spinning quicker, and some coolant is making it to the heater core. So check the level, and if it is low, keep an eye on it to see if it drops again. That of course indicates a leak somewhere. Get it fixed, as overheating the engine leads to costly repairs and worse case a new engine. Let me know how you make out with this.

96 tayota tacoma, 2.7 4 wd, the engine is hard to start when the engine is hot. When cold the engine starts fine.

1. air filter dirty. 2. bad engine ground. 3. fuel filter 4. loose connection in ignition system. 5.faulty idle control system.
