Turn ignition ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON then count the flashes of the check engine light there will be a pause between the 10's and 1's digit for example code 23 will be Flash-Flash.......Pause...... Flash-Flash-Flash count all of the flashes do it a few times to make sure you got it right and remember that code 55 means that is the end, 55 will always be the last code.

In order to get the trouble codes from your car you will need to either get an obd 1 reader from a local parts store or you can take it to any garage to have read.

Make sure your coolant levels are up. If not, it may be the problem. The coolant sensor is reading inappropriate figures & sending incorrect timing figures to the computer. Change the coolant sensor & make sure your air filter is clean. The coolant sensor is close to the thermostat housing. Good luck!

Code 12 is battery disconnected lately. code 24 is faulty TPsensor. code 55 is end of message.

Dodge spirit flasher location
You remove a few phillips head screws on the cover beneath the dash under the knee panel. The hood release is attached to the panel. You can reach it from below or remove the knee panel around the fuse box door. Look for the screws around the trim piece. It's a fairly simple process.
