Your going to have to spend a little money and go to a shop that has a scanner capable of scanning the ABS module.

Sorry about that but it happens.

They (The Shop)
in turn will tell you where to start looking.

Did the dealership cause the ABS/AdvancTrac/Brake lights problem?

Rear wheel sensors may be embedded in the rotors, and they may have put the wrong ones in place. Doubt it's the module. also doubt that they are not available anymore.

I don't understand the whole traction light thing. my car always says trac off-except when it says low trac and slides like it's on ice.

TAKE CAR TO A GARAGE OR DEALERSHIP HAVE THE ABS BRAKES AND TRACTION CONTROL CODE SCAN.YOUR ABS BRAKE SYSTEM WILL COME ON ADJUSTING BRAKE PRESSURE TO AVOID A SKID.THAT WHY LOW TRAC LIGHT COMES ON. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN YOU SEE LOW TRAC LIGHT DRIVING ON DRY ROADS PROBLEM IS IN THE ABS BRAKE UNIT OR BAD WHEEL SPEED SENSOR.

I've changed all my brake parts awhile back but now I'm getting a warning lights for my ABS system on my 2005 X3. Not clear why the light is on, and the dealer is no help.

  • ABS is Antilock Braking System. Basically it prevents your wheels from locking up and skidding out of control when you stomp on the brakes. On older vehicles you would pump the brakes with your feet manually but with ABS this happens automatically.

  • ABS while part of the braking system is not something that would be addressed during a brake job. The ABS sensor are inside the hub. You would need to remove the wheel to access this.

  • If your ABS light is going on then you either have a failure in the power feed to your ABS sensor or the ABS an sensor is failing. Your BMW should have an ABS sensor on every hub. On occasion a brake light being out can cause an ABS light to come on the dash but this is a rare occasion.

  • To test your ABS sensor you remover the wheel and in the top of the HUB (bearings) you will see the sensor and connector. Remove the connector and check for resistance with a multi meter.

  • I'm concerned the dealership could not help. With that light on the should be able to hook a scanner up the the vehicle and see what exactly is wrong and where. You may want to consult a different dealership. You can test things just as easily.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

ABS & Brake indicator lights came on stayed on while I was driving. Brakes are working but the indicators are still on.

An ABS code scanner needs to be hooked up to it to find out what the cause is, ten to one, it might be one of the wheel speed sensors.
When road dirt and grime build up on the end of those sensors, it's not getting a true reading of the speed of the wheel and therefore sends a false signal to the computor and turns on the light.
If there is an autozone near you, call them and ask them if they check codes for abs lights, I know they do for check engine lights.
Hope this helped.

2005 toyota prius abs brake not working warning light and abs lights all stay on toyota cant fine problem they say the brakes are fine they want to put in a main chip which well cost $2500 i beg to differ...

Hmm, I'm not sure what a main chip is but, there is a few reasons for this problem.
  1. ABS Sensors - there could be something wrong with a sensor and/or the wiring to them
  2. The wheel bearing speed sensor in a wheel is bad or intermittent which then tells the computer that wheel is traveling at a faster or slower rate of speed then the rest which in then the computer turns the abs light on.
Now when your warning lights go on, the computer sets a DTC code which is the key to helping solve this problem. If you can get the DTC (Data Trouble Code) from the dealership or from someone who can scan your can, I can better assist you in figuring out what's wrong. Hope this helps.

ABS, Traction Control and Park brake light on

If you have abs sensors at the wheels, have them checked. Usually abs & trac control work off these sensors

Abs light on all the time but nothing wrong with brakes

I would check brake fluid first to make sure it is not low. See your owners manual for correct fluid. The visually check for leaks by the master cylinder , wheels . or brake lines.

If all look good, The Abs wheel speed sensor or sensors are not working . The only way to that is at the dealer or local repair shop.

Good luck

2000 2500 gmc pick up

The abs light has to be reset by a scan tool.It should not have come on unless the new wheel speed sensor is faulty or you forgot to plug it back in or you turned the key on while the sensor was unpluged.Double check your work before having it reset.Good Luck!!!!!
